Beach Babe

Hi all! Today's card features Sophie G Moose, all ready to hit the beach! I used the sketch, Fall-To Layout #49 from a week or two ago. I colored her with Copic markers and added some Star Dust Stickles to the flower in her hair. Doesn't she just make you want to drop what you are doing, grab a book and go sit and relax on the beach?!

By the time you read this, Sabrina and I will be in MN. We decided to get out of the dry AZ heat (115+) and spend some of her summer vacation with family. I'm taking the weekend off, but I have some scheduled posts for next week.

Have a wonderful weekend! Thanks for stopping by!

Celebrate the Season

This week Sparkle has a 2-part challenge for her Christmas Card Challenge #32. The first is a fun sketch! The second is to use 1 color cardstock (not counting white), 2 stamps, 2 embellishments, and 5 pieces of paper. I did pretty well until I got to the paper... hopefully she'll let it slide this time.. :) I liked this sketch so much that I may have to make a few more for my Christmas card stash.

I was excited to pull out my Basic Grey Mistletoe and Pear pad for this one. I think it was a Michael's exclusive (that's what I remember hearing). By the time I saw it last year I already had most of my Christmas cards finished, so I didn't really get to use it much. My image is a fun one from Pink Cat Studio's Lily & Billy Winter. Sentiment is from Papertrey's 2008 Holiday Tag Collection.

Thanks for stopping by!

TSC Wednesday... Take Care

Hello! Here it is mid-week already... where does the time go? It's time for another TSC {The Scrapbooking Cottage} Wednesday! Stacy and I are featuring Just Rite stamps this week.

I knew that I wanted to use Just a Little Caffeine set, so I started searching and searching for some patterned paper that would inspire my card design and decided to use Cosmo Cricket's Early Bird papers. When I ran across the adorable strip of smiling coffee mugs, I knew I had found what I was looking for. The sentiment is from Papertrey's Vintage Picnic Sentiments. For emphasis, I stitched under "take care" and inked over the stitching to give it a little highlight.

Be sure to visit Stacy for more Just Rite inspiration and check out the fun goodies she has in the store.

Thanks for stopping by!

Cheers, Chick!

It's been awhile since I participated in one of the My Favorite Things sketch challenges. Each week I save the sketches with good intentions of playing along, but somehow I seem to run out of time. This week I just couldn't pass up the sketch (MFTSC89).

I pulled out my (gasp!) uninked MFT set, Girls Night Out, and made this card. I tried to keep it somewhat clean and simple. I paper pieced the shirts and colored the rest of the image with Copic markers.

Thanks for stopping by!

Teacher Cards

All too often I am so rushed when making teacher gifts that I run out of time to make a card to go along with the gift. This time I only had to make 3 gifts sets (which I posted yesterday), so I had a little time to make these simple cards to go along with them.

I used Papertrey Ink's Vintage Picnic stamp set again.. see how versatile it is? I also used GinaK's Pure Luxury white cardstock (120 lb) ~ it is my go-to cardstock whenever I want to color with Copic markers and not have the markers bleed through to the backside! I was going to finish the card off with pink ribbon, but I was in such a rush to photograph it that I completely forgot!

I hope you have a great weekend ~ it's supposed to be 116 here.. ugh! Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
Stamps: Vintage Picnic (Papertrey Ink)
Cardstock: Pure Luxury Cardstock (GinaK)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Accessories: Square Cuttlebug Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Cuttlebug (Provo Craft), Markers (Copic).

Monogram Teacher Gifts

Good morning! It's hard to believe that today is the last day of Summer School for Sabrina -- the 5 weeks just flew by. It was just a few hours each day, but it was worth it. Sabrina did well with the transition (new teacher/aides, classmates, even a different school location). It's hard to believe that she will be starting 1st grade next month!

If these look familiar, I made these cards for her to give to her Kindergarten teachers/aides/therapists at the end of the school year in May. For today, I used patterned papers from the same Everyday pack by American Crafts, but I changed the layout of the cards a bit. I made 3 sets of 6 cards (2 of each style).

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies ~
Stamps: Simply Stationary, Fresh Alphabet (Papertrey Ink)
Cardstock: Classic Crest Solar White (Neenah), Dark Chocolate (Papertrey Ink), Baby Pink (CTMH)
Patterned Paper: Everyday (American Crafts)
Ink: Dark Chocolate (Papertrey Ink)
Accessories: Dotted Wave Border Punch (EK Success), Circle Punches (EK Success, Marvy), Scalloped Circle Punch (Marvy), Ribbon, Foam Boosters.

Underwater... TSC Wednesday

Good morning! It's Wednesday, which means that it's The Scrapbooking Cottage {TSC} Wednesday! Today, Stacy and I are featuring some stamps from the new release of C.C. Designs, Underwater and Underwater Sentiments. You can purchase these in the store now!

For my first card, I paper-pieced Emma's top, colored in the rest of her, cut her out and popped her on top of the Swiss Dots embossed oval. My Emmas are usually very pale, so I tried a little something different to make her a little tan. The circles on her headband and belt (do mermaid's wear belts?) just screamed pearls to me, so I finished those accessories off with pearls.

Emma is such a cutie that I had to make another card with her! For this one, I cut Emma out again and popped her on top of my colored background. I added some Star Dust stickles to her top to make her a little blingy.

I hope you're having a wonderful week! Thanks for stopping by!

In Memory of Lucy

Sympathy cards are not cards that any of us look forward to purchasing, making, sending or receiving. But, inevitably, there comes a time when one is needed. I made this card in memory of Lucy. I only met Lucy a few times, but when I did, I remember her full of life and laughter. She touched many hearts and will be dearly missed. My heart goes out to all of her loved ones.

I only received this Verve set, Forever in Our Hearts, last week, so this is the first time I've used it. Julee has created another classic set that I will turn to whenever I want to express my condolences yet lack the appropriate words. I chose to use Amber's Viva La Verve July01 sketch because the layout suited how I wanted my finished card to look. The "twist" to the sketch was to add distressing. I wanted to keep my card fairly clean and simple, so I opted to only lightly scissor distress the edges of my cardstock.

Thanks for stopping by.

Supplies ~
Stamps: Forever in Our Hearts (Verve)
Cardstock: True Black (Papertrey Ink), Classic Crest Solar White (Neenah)
Patterned Paper: Black Orchid (SEI)
Ink: True Black (Papertrey Ink)
Accessories: Mega Curved Rectangle Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Cuttlebug (Provo Craft), Scalloped Corner Punch (Marvy), Pearls (Queen & Co), Ribbon, Foam Tape.

Holiday Wishes

Hello! I finally got a chance to sit down and play in Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge... If you recall, it's a weekly challenge to make a couple of cards for the Christmas stash so you have a good supply come December. The last couple of weeks, she's had a sketch -- I love sketches, so I couldn't pass this one up! This is the week #31 sketch.

I was going for a little Vintage Christmas look here... I used my new favorite stamp set, Vintage Picnic, by Papertrey Ink and some October Afternoon paper.

Happy Anniversary!

I want to wish my sister, Sharon, and BIL, Vince, a VERY Happy Anniversary!

Edit: Uploaded new photo and added supply list. The photo doesn't do the ribbon justice. It is beautiful silk ribbon from Sharon Johnson's online store -- it's so luscious and easy to tie!

You'll have to excuse this blown out photo (I will fix it later). My computer has been giving me all kinds of fits, to Dan is rebuilding it for me. That means all of my software and data files (including my Actions) were moved to an external hard drive, so I had to hand edit my photo. I quickly jumped on my computer and installed Photoshop so that I could post my card this morning.

I hope you're having a great weekend! I'll add my supply list later, too! Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies ~
Stamps: Damask Designs (Papertrey Ink)
Cardstock: Pure Poppy, True Black (Papertrey Ink); Classic Crest Solar White (Neenah)
Ink: True Black, Fresh Snow (Papertrey Ink)
Accessories: Scalloped Corner Punch (Marvy), Black Pearls (Kaisercraft), Silk Ribbon (Stamp Simply), Thread, Sewing Machine.

Happy 4th!

Good morning! Happy 4th of July! I've been wanting to break out this new Papertrey Ink set, Vintage Picnic, ever since I got it. Each month, Nichole releases sets that are just incredible, and this one is no exception. This particular set was conceptualized by Michelle and sketched out by Nichole. It's just fantastic! The images and sentiments are so versatile for so many occasions -- I just love great year-round sets like this! I know that I will be reaching for it again and again! It's a little hard to see, but I embossed a square (using my Nestabilities) onto my white cardstock, then I stamped and colored my image inside the square.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend and thank you for visiting!

Stamps: Vintage Picnic (Papertrey Ink)
Cardstock: Pure Poppy (Papertrey Ink), Classic Crest Solar White (Neenah)
