Bee Buddies and HB

Before I get to today's card, Sabrina wants to send Happy Birthday wishes to Papa!

I used Sherrie's TECC52SS for my card. My main image came from a recent image swap that I did with my friend, Stacy. I stamped the bees and colored them with Copics and finished them off with some glittery stickles.

Hope you're having a great weekend! Thanks for looking!

Sweet Friend - TECC52JP

My card for today uses Jackie's sketch, TECC52JP. At first I was a little stuck on it (the circle threw me off again), so I started working on the background papers first, then I chose and colored my image. I've been hoarding the Basic Grey Cupcake paper pad for awhile now and decided it was finally time to break it open!

Stamps: Sweet Celebration (SASI)
Paper: Poppy Red, White (PTI); Sunkiss Yellow (CTMH), Cupcake (Basic Grey)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Accessories: Circle and Petite Oval Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Cuttlebug (Provo Craft), Markers (Copic), brads, ribbon, white gel pen, foam tape, thread, sewing machine.

Happy Birthday!

Today's card uses Steph's fun sketch (TECC52SH) that she created for Taylor's one year cupcake challenge anniversary. I stamped my cuppie image twice, colored both, cut one out, then I popped it on top of the other one to add dimension.

Up until a few weeks ago, I'd been taking photographs in my bathroom (the only place where there are white walls), then I started taking them in my blank white wall cubes. That worked out pretty well until I decided that I couldn't keep a cube empty just to photograph my cards and I didn't want to move things out of it each time I wanted to take a picture. So, I decided to invest in an inexpensive light tent. So far, it is pretty convenient since it folds up easily. I'm not that happy with the end result, though. I still think I need to practice more with it or move it to a better location... so please excuse the weird shadows in the photo!

Stamps: Sweet Celebration (SASI)
Paper: Hollyhock (CTMH), White (PTI), All Kinds of Happy (Imaginisce)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Accessories: Rectangle Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Markers (Copic), cornice border punch (Martha Stewart), dew drops (Robin's Nest), ribbon, foam tape.

I Love You More Today...

I used Taylor's TECC52TV sketch for today's card. This was the only stamp from Verve's Hundred Hearts set that I hadn't inked up. It's one of four very sweet sentiments from the set. I wanted it to be the main focus of my card, so it is my main "image".

Hope you're having a great week and as always, thanks for stopping by!

Stamps: Hundred Hearts (Verve)
Paper: Poppy Red, White (PTI); Blush (CTMH), Bee Mine mat deck (Marcella by K)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento), Poppy Red (PTI)
Accessories: Petite Oval Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Cuttlebug (Provo Craft), heart lace border punch (Martha Stewart), ribbon (American Crafts), buttons, embroidery floss (DMC), foam tape.

Happy 2nd Birthday!

I can't believe little W is turning 2 already! It seems like just yesterday that I flew to CA to throw my BFF her baby shower. I'm sad to say that I've only seen him a few times. The distance is just too great, but I am thankful that our friendship has survived over the miles and the years.

I used Ana's Cupcake Anniversary sketch for Taylored Expressions. If you want to play along, check out her sketch here. I hunted around for a cute little image to stamp and color and I couldn't find anything appropriate for a boy. Then, I dug out one of my old CTMH stamp sets and decided on the monkey. I thought it fitting since W was a monkey last Halloween!

Stamps: Life's a Jungle, Happy Birthday, Sans Small Numbers (CTMH)
Paper: Spring Rain, White (PTI); Brown Bag (CTMH), Nana's Kids stack (DCWV)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento), Staz On Black (Tsukineko)
Accessories: Rectangle Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Happy Birthday embossing folder, Cuttlebug (Provo Craft); Markers (Copic), lg and sm star chipboard (American Crafts), star brads, paper piercer, ribbon, foam tape, thread, sewing machine.

Birthday Surprise

Happy Mojo Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend! I had planned on spending some time playing with some of the Taylored Expressions sketches, but I didn't do any stamping this weekend. Instead, I spent my free time cleaning and organizing my stamp room. It's looking pretty good now, though there is still the guest room (where I put all the items that I didn't know where to neatly put away in my stamp room).

I thought I'd kick off the week with Julee's latest Mojo Monday sketch #71. I finally gave in and bought some Riley stamps. I've long admired him and thought he was just the cutest moose ever, but I didn't want to get hooked. Well, now I'm hooked! My card is fairly simple and not too fru fru as it is for my Dad's birthday! I did sneak in a little ribbon and a red rhinestone for the cherry on top of his cupcake! I haven't sent this out yet, but here's wishing you an early Happy Birthday, Dad!

Stamps: Coffee Riley (Hanna Stamps), Birthday Surprise (Verve)
Paper: Dark Chocolate, White (PTI); Granola (Basic Grey)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Accessories: Square and Labels One Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Tiny bubbles embossing folder, Cuttlebug (Provo Craft); Markers (Copic), rhinestone (Kaiser Crafts), ribbon, foam tape.

Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge Anniversary!

Taylor is celebrating the one year anniversary of the Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge! Each of the ladies on the Weekly Cupcake Crew has designed their own sketch for the celebration. I'm featuring Jami Sibley's sketch challenge. You can check out the sketch on her blog and find out about the prize you can win by participating!

In addition to myself, the following very talented ladies are also sampling Jami's sketch. Be sure to check out all of their gorgeous creations!
Charmaine Ikach: http://oodabugalley.blogspot.com/
Karen Giron: http://www.kgiron.blogspot.com/
Jami Sibley: http://jami.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/
Renee VanStralen: http://reneevs.blogspot.com/

Don't forget to check out Taylor's blog, the anniversary celebration headquarters, for all of the sketch challenges as well as an AWESOME GRAND PRIZE for one random winner who participates in ALL 9 sketch challenges! We hope you'll help us celebrate this yummy occasion!

Jami's sketch was such a fun, versatile one that I decided to make 2 cards - one with the sketch as she drew it and one with it turned 90 degrees! For both, I used one of the newly released Stamp a Sweet Impression sets, Love is Sweet and the Valentine Key ingredients. It made it so much easier to complete my finished product with all the matching paper and embellishments already put together for me.

For my first card, I inked up and colored my cuppie with Copic markers and added a candy dot for the cherry on top. Instead of using ribbon, I punched a strip of cardstock with my Martha Stewart valentine lace punch. I added 2 rub-on brackets around the word "love" to use as my simple sentiment.

For my second card I used the kissing cuppies for my image, so I flipped Jami's sketch to suit the horizonatal image. I inked up the cuppies and colored them with Copic markers and finished them off with stickles for some bling. After cutting and embossing the scalloped circle, I ran it through my Cuttlebug again using the new Love Language embossing folder (love those tiny hearts!).

Card 1 ingredients:
Stamps: Love is Sweet (Stamp a Sweet Impression)
Paper: cardstock, patterned paper (Valentine Key Ingredients), Choice Snow White (Taylored Expressions)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Accessories: Heart and Rectangle Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Cuttlebug (Provo Craft); Markers (Copic), valentine lace border punch (Martha Stewart), candy dot (Pebbles Inc), heart brads and ribbon (Valentine Key Ingredients), {bracket} rub-ons (American Crafts), foam tape, thread, sewing machine.

Card 2 ingredients:
Stamps: Love is Sweet (Stamp a Sweet Impression)
Paper: cardstock, patterned paper (Valentine Key Ingredients), Choice Snow White (Taylored Expressions)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Accessories: Circle, Rectangle and Curved Rectangle Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Love Language embossing folder, Cuttlebug (Provo Craft); Markers (Copic), Xmas red stickles (Ranger), brads (CTMH), ribbon (Valentine Key Ingredients), foam tape, thread, sewing machine.

A True Friend

I'm feeling a bit under the weather today, so I probably won't be stamping anything new. I'm pretty sure that I haven't posted this card yet, though. I made it for the Verve release earlier this month. I took a peek in the Verve store, and Julee still has some great deals available!

Also, don't forget about the Verve Project Parade, going on in the Verve Stamps blog HERE. Each day, one of the divas are showcasing a project using the new January stamps. The theme is "Kid at Heart". The projects are just awesome!

I'll be back tomorrow with some fun sweets! Have a great day!

Stamps: Hundred Hearts (Verve)
Paper: Dark Chocolate, Raspberry Fizz, White (PTI), Bittersweet (Basic Grey)

XOXO

I'm not sure what's throwing off today's card, but it's making me feel out of my comfort zone. It could be the color combination or maybe the fact that I didn't sew on it at all! I combined Amber's Viva La Verve sketch #3 and the OCC challenge to use the emboss resist technique.

Stamps: Hearts on Fire (Verve)
Ink: Versamark (Tsukineko), Baby Pink (CTMH)
Paper: Tulip, Spring Iris (CTMH); solar white (Neenah), Sweet Talk (K & Company Brenda Walton)
Accessories: Circle Nestabilities, Pierceabilities scallop border (Spellbinders); Cuttlebug (Provo Craft), mini heart border punch (Martha Stewart), notebook edge punch (SU!), corner rounder (CM), ribbon (Martha Stewart), paper piercer, sponge dauber, foam tape.

Changito's Love Balloon

Today's card uses Jen's latest Sketch For You To Try. I did an image swap with my friend Stacy and am finally getting to play with Changito {the monkey}! Isn't he adorable? I stamped him and his companion, then colored them with Copic markers. Everything else is pretty self-explanatory. Thanks for stopping by!

ETA: Don't forget to stop by the Verve Stamps blog. Starting yesterday, the divas are featuring a new project each day. The theme is "A Kid at Heart". The projects posted so far are just fabulous... you won't want to miss out!

You've Got Mail

I've been wanting to play in the fun MFT sketch challenges that Frances and Cindy have been hosting for awhile now, and I finally did! I also got to ink up one of the fun MFT Who's That Girl stamps, Who's That e-Girl? from a few releases ago. Not only does my card use the sketch to the left, but it also is going out in the mail to a good friend of mine who got a pink laptop for Christmas! She will probably see this online before she gets it via snail mail, but I hope she likes it!

Happy Valentine's Day

I hope you're all having a good weekend! My card for today is for Taylor's Cupcake Challenge #51, using the sketch to the right.

I pulled out my latest favorite patterned paper, Bittersweet by Basic Grey - just love it! Then I stamped the cuppie and colored her with Copic markers. The dark chocolate strips are actually punched with a new Martha Stewart border punch with tiny hearts. Thanks for stopping by!

Jeremiah 29:11

Here is (I think) my last card that I made for the Verve release that I haven't posted here yet. It uses the set, Jeremiah 29:11. I wanted the focus to be on the passage, so I tried to keep my card layout simple.

Thanks for looking!

Happy Snowman SFYTT

My card for today uses Jen's fun Sketch for You to Try from 1/10/09. I made this card in response to Jen's request as posted on her blog here.

She wrote:
"Fellow North Texan and Splitcoaster Julie Carlisle {afancycat on SCS} works in the International Student Services Department at Dallas Baptist University {DBU}. They have students from over 50 countries at the University that they give cards to. I have donated several cards to her in the past and she was one of the first people that came to mind when I decided I wanted to do this blog tart giveaway, as she is always so sweet and grateful."

Send your card to her at the address:
Dallas Baptist University
Attn: Julie Carlisle
3000 Mountain Creek Pkwy
Dallas, TX 75211

If you are so inclined, I encourage you to make and send a card to DBU at the address above. Plus, as an added bonus, Jen is offering up a chance to win some huge blog candy for those who participate by the end of the month! Check out all the details in the link to her blog above.

This is the card that I'm sending in the mail today. The temps are heading toward 80 here in Phoenix, but I'm still in the snowman mood. I didn't put a sentiment on this card. I thought it could be used for just about anything. It's all pretty much self-explanatory. I did punch a snowflake out of acetate and attached it with the brad to the lower right corner of the snowman (it's kind of hard to see though).

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

You Warm My Heart

My card for today combines a few challenges. First, I finally got to play with Julee's Mojo Monday #68 (see right). Isn't it a fun one?! Secondly, I added the OCC color challenge to use two shades of blue and a neutral color. Finally, I tried to play along with Cindy's What's Up Wednesday (WUW) monochromatic challenge (though I think I have a little too much Kraft thrown in to make it qualify as monochromatic).

Happy Thursday!

Mojo Sweets

I'm attempting to start the new year off right... well, my house may not be sparkling clean, but my stamp room soon will be... or at least better organized :)

I decided to take a break and play with Julee's latest Mojo sketch (I missed her 1st one of the year, but I definitely saved it for a future card/layout!). When I sat down to play with Mojo Monday #69, I realized how dirty by acrylic blocks were. I gave them a good scrubbing with Staz On cleaner and now they are all sparkly clean. I need to remember to do that more often! Then, I broke out my new Taylored Expressions SASI set, Life is Sweet, stamped and colored the sweet cuppie and her yummy chocolates. Don't they look good enough to eat?!

Sweet Valentine

Today's projects use the new Verve set, Sweet Valentine. This set is only $9 or you can take advantage of one of Julee's fabulous deals HERE! Not only is it a great set for Valentine's, but you can also use it for thank yous all year-round!

I guess you could say that I'm a little ahead of the game since I already have a this ensemble made! I may have to replace the chocolates in the tin, though... :)

This was probably my favorite project of them all. I just love this color combination and the Basic Grey Bittersweet patterned papers are just so beautiful! I die cut scalloped hearts and folded them over as photo corners (tip from Nichole Heady), then finished each off with a brad.

Thanks for looking!

Card only:

Heart Tin (right after I took the photo of the card and tin, my tin fell over and the stickles on the hearts got smudged -- serves me right for not waiting for it to dry, huh?!)

You're in My Thoughts and Prayers

I'm in the midst of a major reorg of my stamping room and my supplies are all over the place... My sweet DH put together an entire wall of cubes which I am very excited about! I am trying to take my time to go through and organize things in their new home rather than just throw everything in a basket, then on a shelf. Unfortunately, that takes away from my stamping time! I didn't get a chance to stamp at all this weekend, so I missed a couple of challenges... :(

In the meantime, I do have a couple of cards from the latest Verve release to show you. These are from the wonderful new set, Meditations.

This was the very first card that I made with the new Verve sets. I was so excited when I first got the stamps, yet I was so nervous to get started. After a few panic attacks, I decided to dive in and play!

Not only does the set include the beautiful Psalm shown in the card above, but it also has these beautiful flowers in 2 sizes with 2 variations in each size. I chose to make this card monochromatic, highlighting the "other" sentiment in the set, You're in My Thoughts and Prayers. This is a special message going out to my SIL and BIL in MN.

Card 1:

Verve Release Tonight!

Are you ready? Tonight is the big Verve release in the SCS forum here from 8-10 PM EST. Be sure to stop by and see all the new sets! You don't want to miss this! Sets are on sale right after the release!

Here's a simple one using one of the sweet sentiments from Hundred Hearts.

Life's Simple Pleasures

I just love this sentiment - "Let life's simple pleasures fill your heart with joy". We all get so caught up in life that I think we sometimes forget this -- I know I do.

This is my card for this week's Our Creative Corner challenge, based up Jennifer's sketch to the right. This was a fun one to work with! I decided to try something new with my stitching. I replaced my thread with a red spool, but I left white in the bobbin and parts of the white was pulled up to the top for a slight 2-toned effect. It's more random than consistent, but a little bit of change.

Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento), Sweet Blush (PTI)

Verve Hundred Hearts Sneak Peek!

Have you been enjoying the Verve sneak peeks this week? Verve Stamps is releasing new sets this Friday, January 9 @ 8 PM EST in their SCS forum HERE. I always look forward to seeing the sneak peeks that the talented Verve Divas create! Well, this time, I get to show you a sneak peek because I am one of the Guest Divas! I know, can you believe it?! I'm still pinching myself! Lynda Benden and I were asked to join the Verve Divas for this release! If you've missed any of the peeks, be sure to check out the Verve blog HERE.

Well, enough of my chit chat.. here is a preview using Hundred Hearts! This set has gorgeous heart images and in true Verve style, beautiful sentiments that can be used for Valentine's Day, anniversaries or any occasion where you want to express feelings of friendship and love.

For this particular card, I used no patterned paper. I stamped the heart border in white ink on Kraft cardstock and that became my pp! I chose a bright pink to offset the neutral Kraft and white combination. The hardest part was choosing which sentiment to use! I kept the rest of the card simple and used rhinestone accents to add some bling. If the design looks familiar, I used one of Julee's Mojo Monday #67 sketch.

Thanks for stopping by! I have lots more Verve to show you in the next few days!

Stamps: Hundred Hearts (Verve)
Paper: Kraft, Raspberry Fizz, White (PTI)
Ink: Fresh Snow (PTI), Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Accessories: Square Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Cuttlebug (Provo Craft), ribbon (PTI), rhinestones (CTMH), white gel pen, foam tape.

Beautiful You Thanks

This is my final card for Verve's Looking for Love Release Challenges! It uses Julee's VSLFL4 sketch. You still have time to play in the challenges and a chance to win free Verve stamps! Check them out here.

If you haven't already, be sure to check out the Verve blog for more sneak peeks and don't forget the big release tomorrow at 8 PM EST here! You won't want to miss it!

My card uses the gorgeous flower from the Verve Beautiful You set, which I paper-pieced twice and popped one on top of the other to make the flower fuller. Thanks for stopping by! I'll be back a little later with more Verve goodness!

Stamps: Beautiful You, Grateful Elegance (Verve)

HB and Moments that Take our Breath Away

2nd post for today... I forgot to mention before that today is Dan's (DH) birthday... Happy Birthday, sweetie! He's so low-maintenance... I asked him what he wanted for dinner and he said "chocolate chip cookies and macaroni & cheese" (well, maybe not so LM since those are both homemade!).

I'm back with a card for Julee's sketch challenge for day 2 (remember you still have time to play -- all 4 challenges aren't due until Friday, January 9 @ noon MST) of Verve's Looking for Love Release challenges. There are 4 days of challenges on SCS leading up to Verve's release this Friday at 8 PM EST. More details here. Also, you can check out the daily sneak peeks on the Verve blog.

I have a few friends who are expecting and I just love this sentiment from Verve's Beautiful You. One is finding out what she is having this Friday (yay!). The other two are not as cooperative -- they aren't finding out what they are having, so it makes it difficult to plan (and yes, I AM a planner!).

Stamps: Beautiful You (Verve)
Paper: Creme Brulee, Twilight (CTMH), White (PTI), Nana's Nursery Boy (DCWV)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Accessories: Rectangle Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Cuttlebug (Provo Craft), border punch (Martha Stewart), pearls (Kaiser), ribbon, white gel pen, foam tape.

Thanks

I'm playing a little catch up today... this is my card for Julee's color challenge for day 1 (technically yesterday, though all 4 challenges are due Friday, January 9 @ noon MST) of Verve's Looking for Love Release challenges. There are 4 days of challenges on SCS leading up to Verve's release this Friday at 8 PM EST. More details here. Also, you can check out the daily sneak peeks on the Verve blog. Are those enough links for you to check out?!

I'm still playing catch up with Christmas thank yous, so I made a deal with myself that if I'm going to try to keep up with the challenges, then I have to make simple (i.e. mailable) thank you cards.

Warmest Thanks

This is my quickie card for Amber's Viva la Verve sketch. On top of using the sketch as inspiration, there was an added twist to add some hardware to the project. I added a metal label holder and brad in the middle of the flower.

Now that the holidays are officially over, I'm trying to get back into the swing of things. I still need to get thank you cards made and sent out {so if you are waiting for one... so sorry!}. I've been super busy working on some projects that I will finally be able to show you at the end of this week -- yay!

Thanks for stopping by!

Stamps: Grateful Elegance, Artful Elegance (Verve)
Paper: Dark Chocolate, White (PTI), Offbeat (Basic Grey)

Ink: Rich Cocoa (Memento)
Accessories: Circle Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Cuttlebug (Provo Craft), markers (Copic), label holder, brads (Making Memories), paper piercer, white gel pen, foam tape.

Happy Birthday - TECC49

Happy 2009! I hope you all are enjoying the beginning of the new year! I decided to start the year with a bright, cheery birthday card and Taylor's latest sketch. The pink in this card is the latest PTI color, Raspberry Fizz, but I'm having a hard time getting it to photograph correctly. It probably doesn't help that it's dark and rainy outside right now!

Now that I'm no longer in a panic to create more cards for my "Christmas" stash, I'm going to try to build a little "everyday occasion" card stash. I'm not completely ready to put away the snowmen and jolly holiday supplies, so I am going to try to adopt Sparkle's idea of making Christmas cards throughout the year so that I won't have so many to make at the end of the year. Her Christmas Card challenge started here. Isn't hers a great idea?!

Card is 5" x 5":
Stamps: Birthday Surprise, Cupcake Affair (Verve)
Paper: Raspberry Fizz, Vanilla Cream (PTI), Ocean (CTMH), Sasha (Prima)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Accessories: Markers (Copic), Circle Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Cuttlebug (Provo Craft), ribbon, brads, white gel pen, foam boosters, thread, sewing machine
