Happy Easter - Viva La Verve

I used Amber's April {01} Viva La Verve sketch. The {twist} was to use only a sentiment. I used one of Verve's newest newer plain jane stamps, Happy Easter.

A Branching Out Thank You

I used Taylor's TECC61 sketch and chose my colors and image based upon inspiration from Dawn's Raspberry Suite Color Challenge.

For my main image, I used the branch from Taylored Expressions, Branching Out. I added the cute owl from Branching Out Coordinates {and yes, I know owls don't typically have teal colored bellies!}. I needed a masculine thank you card, so I tried to keep my layout simple and not frilly. Then, a Prima flower ended up making its way onto the card -- oops!

Hope you have a great week! Thanks for stopping by!

Stamps: Branching Out, Branching Out Coordinates (Taylored Expressions)
Paper: Dark Chocolate, White (Papertrey Ink); Ocean, Key Lime (CTMH); Garden Party (DCWV stack)
Ink: Memento Rich Cocoa (Tsukineko)
Accessories: Long Rectangle Nestabilities (Spellbinders), forest branch embossing folder, Cuttlebug (Provo Craft); word window punch (SU!), flower (Prima), button, embroidery floss (DMC), foam tape.

Merry Christmas Hedgie

Hope you're having a great weekend! I used Julee's Mojo Monday sketch #79 for my hedgie card. I made 2 of these cards for my Christmas card stash as part of Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge to make 2 Christmas cards each week. I'm now up to 4 in my stash -- woo hoo!

Last summer I decided that I wanted to use some of the Penny Black hedgie images for my Christmas cards. I stamped off a whole pile of the images, but as I was just starting to color, it was an extremely slow and frustrating process for me. This time I only had to color 2 images and it was really fun coloring little "Booga". Booga is a stuffed hedgie that is our first "child" - it's how booga.com {and my email address} all started. Before blogging existed, we used it as a way to update friends and family with our travels, photos and everyday life. We still have the domain, but I haven't updated it in years {I just checked - it's been since 2005 - oops}. One day I will find another use for it.

Recipe:
Stamps: Christmas Critters (Penny Black), Mixed Messages (Papertrey Ink)
Paper: Pure Poppy, Hibiscus Burst, White (Papertrey Ink); Ellen Krans Holiday (Me & My Big Ideas)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Accessories: Rectangle and Long Rectangle Nestabilities (Spellbinders), snowflake embossing folder, Cuttlebug (Provo Craft); Markers (Copic), scalloped scallop border punch (EK Success), Liquid Applique (Marvy), ribbon, piercing tool, foam tape, thread, sewing machine.

A Batch of Birthday Wishes

I didn't finish my card in time for this week's Our Creative Corner challenge, but I still used the sketch from 3/21/09 here. I thought it was a fun sketch to play with {I know I say that a lot, but I really mean it!}.

I started by stamping my Changito monkey image. I also stamped and cut out the cupcake. I paper-pieced his apron and the cupcake with patterned paper. I found my Liquid Applique {it was in my tool caddy, where it was supposed to be - go figure} and used it to puff up his chef's hat - unfortunately, you can't really see it in the photo. I popped up the cupcake to add some dimension and added some Star Dust stickles to the chocolate frosting.

Hope you're having a great weekend! Thanks for stopping by!

Stamps: Changito Baker (Stampendous)
Paper: Dark Chocolate, Ocean Tides, White (Papertrey Ink); Archaic paper pad (Basic Grey)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Accessories: Oval and Labels Three Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Markers (Copic), Star Dust stickles (Ranger), pearls (Kaiser), Liquid Applique (Marvy), ribbon, foam tape.

Happy Birthday Flowers

I used Jen's Sketch For You To Try (3/21/09) for my layered birthday card. Since I popped 2 of my layers up on foam tape, I opted to omit the upper panel on her sketch and instead stamped Happy Birthday directly on my patterned paper.

For my bottom embellishments, I punched tiny flowers from cardstock and added a pearl to each. The pearls to the left of my sentiment were colored with a Copic marker to match my flowers.

Thanks for stopping by... Hope you have a great weekend!

Recipe
Stamps: Flower Chat, Everything Happy (Stampendous)
Paper: Berry Sorbet, Lemon Tart, White (Papertrey Ink); Porcelain pad (Basic Grey)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Accessories: Square Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Birds & Swirls embossing folder, Cuttlebug (Provo Craft); Markers (Copic), Fleur de lis border punch (EK Success), tiny flower punch (McGill), pearls (Kaiser), Star Dust stickles (Ranger), ribbon, paper piercer, foam tape, thread, sewing machine.

Greetings - Card for a Cause

I had the chance to "meet" Jen Tapler a few months ago when I was a Verve guest designer. She is one of the fabulous Verve Divas and uber-talented! When I saw that she was celebrating her 1-year blogoversary with a challenge to create cards for a wonderful cause, I definitely wanted to participate. She will be collecting and selling them through a charity auction. Proceeds will go to the Alzheimer's Association, in honor of her father, who is in the late stages of this terribly heartbreaking disease. For more details on her challenge and a chance to win her huge blog candy, check out her post HERE.

I used Amy Rysavy's Friday sketch #54 to design my card. It was such a fun sketch to use -- I think I will be using this one again! When Mailbox Greetings was first released last year, I had planned on using it on my Christmas cards (and starting them in June). I really struggled with it at first (I had just bought my first handful of Copic markers and couldn't color for the life of me!). It's such a versatile set that can be used for just about any occasion. The mailboxes remind me of my SIL, Mary, Postmaster Extraordinaire.

Thanks for stopping by -- have a wonderful day!

Recipe
Stamps: Mailbox Greetings (Papertrey Ink)
Paper: True Black, White (Papertrey Ink); Friendly Forest mat pack (Colorbok)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Accessories: Long Rectangle Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Cuttlebug (Provo Craft), Markers (Copic), ribbon, paper piercer, button, twine, foam tape.

Thanks So Much

This is my 2nd post of the day...

This is week 1 of Dawn McVey's, Raspberry Suite Color Challenge. The photo is from Pottery Barn Teen. These are such happy colors that it wasn't hard to draw inspiration from them.

For starters, I kept the layout very simple. I started by stamping my cardstock strips with white polka dots. After arranging these together, I chose a simple branch with flowers to match the strips to be my main image and finished it off by using foam tape to pop it off the card. It's hard to see, but each small flower has a little Star Dust stickles on it.

Stamps: Polka Dot Basics, Out on a Limb, Mixed Messages (Papertrey Ink)
Paper: Dark Chocolate, Melon Berry, Lemon Tart, Raspberry Fizz, White (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Dark Chocolate, Melon Berry, Lemon Tart, Raspberry Fizz, Snow White (Papertrey Ink)
Accessories: Long Rectangle Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Cuttlebug (Provo Craft), ribbon (Papertrey Ink), Star Dust stickles (Ranger), foam tape.

I'm Here for You

Good morning! I used Cindy's sketch (MFTSC73) for my card. I started with the Bunny Slippers stamp set and realized that my image was too big for the horizontal layout of my card. I had already cut the other panels, so I switched to Rain or Shine. I paper pieced the jacket and the dog's sweater (after all, who doesn't go walking with a matching outfit for owner/dog?!). The rest I colored in with markers.

Thanks for stopping by!

Stamps: Rain or Shine (My Favorite Things)
Paper: True Black, White, Bitty Dot Basics (Papertrey Ink); Hello Sunshine (Cosmo Cricket)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko), Fresh Snow (Papertrey Ink)
Accessories: Rectangle Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Cuttlebug (Provo Craft), Markers (Copic), circle punch (EK Success), ticket punch (SU!), brads, foam tape.

Woven Easter Basket

Sometime last year, I came across this fabulous woven basket tutorial HERE, written by Laura Canale. I made a mental note to try it out one day. I needed an idea for the Verve Easter Project Parade and thought it would be perfect.

I used brown and pink cardstock to make a two-toned basket. The top strip is finished off with brads and piercing.

Side view:

I used Verve's Chocolate Bunnies stamp set for my image and sentiment. I first stamped the bunny, then I colored her and paper-pieced the large middle egg and stamped Happy Easter on it. I stamped the eggs and her bow again, colored them, cut them out and popped them on top for some dimension. Finally, I added some Stickles for a little bling.

Close up:

Hope you're having a wonderful day! Thanks for stopping by!

Recipe
Stamps: Chocolate Bunnies (Verve)
Paper: textured cardstock (Bazzill), white (Neenah), Bittersweet (Basic Grey)
Ink: Antique Linen Distress Ink (Ranger), Memento Rich Cocoa (Tsukineko)
Accessories: Petite Oval Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Cuttlebug (Provo Craft), Markers (Copic), Star Dust, Cotton Candy and Antique Linen stickles (Ranger); paper piercer, ribbon, sponge dauber, brads, sticky tape, foam tape.

Spread Your Wings and Fly

Good morning! I used Amber's final Viva La Verve sketch for the month of March. The "twist" was to make it "CAS" - Clean and Simple. We were limited to only 1 type of embellishment. I chose ribbon. The more I look at my card, I'm not sure I'd call it clean and simple, but maybe it's because I used so much patterned paper!

Recipe
Stamps: Beautiful Kindness (Verve)
Paper: Melon Berry, Vintage Cream (Papertrey Ink); Indian Corn Blue (CTMH), Chloe's Closet (Making Memories)Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko), Indian Corn Blue (CTMH)
Accessories: Circle and Petite Oval Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Cuttlebug (Provo Craft), ribbon (Papertrey Ink), Star Dust stickles (Ranger), paper piercer, foam tape.

Christmas Card Challenge Week #16

I'm finally joining in on Sparkle's Christms Card Challenge! This is week #16. Since this is my first week participating, I'll explain a little about it. Sparkle started this challenge in December of last year. She will be making 2 Christmas cards each week and posting them on Sundays. By the end of the year, she will have 104 cards in her Christmas stash! You can find more info on her blog here. I'm getting a little late start to her challenge, but I'm going to try to do it as often as I can so that I will have at least some cards in my Christmas stash come December 2009!

Since I got these Riley stamps after Christmas, I've never had a chance to use them, so I thought this is the perfect excuse!

My first card is loosely based upon Taylor's TECC57 sketch. I changed it a little by moving the vertical panel in the center of my card instead of at the very top. My second card also started with a Taylor sketch (TECC60). I wanted to add Liquid Applique to Riley's hat and beard, but once again, I could not find it {I am constantly losing my Liquid Applique pen}, so I added some Star Dust stickles instead.

I hope you're having a great weekend! Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Easter - TECC60

Happy Saturday everyone! I used Taylor's TECC60 sketch to make another cuppie Easter card! Most of my supplies came from the Easter Key Ingredients, available at Taylored Expressions. The coordinating items make creating a breeze!

I stamped and colored my cuppie rabbit image with Copic markers. I also paper pieced the lower portion of the cupcake. Finally, I added a Swarovski crystal (which I colored with a Copic marker) to the cherry. The 2 panels (oval and smaller rectangle) and sentiment are popped up with foam tape for added dimension.

Have a great weekend and thank you for visiting!

Spring Break

If you came here to see a card, please scroll down as this is my 2nd post of the day. If you've already seen that card, then I hope you'll stop by tomorrow (Sat.) as I'll have another card to share!

Spring Break is officially winding down here. Sabrina will go back to school on Monday. She's had a fun week, starting with the Bondurant Cup (super kart race) last Saturday. She was the Ambassador for Wal-Mart's Road Rage team. After a fun afternoon of cheering the team on, we headed to CA to visit family. Without a doubt, that was the highlight of Sabrina's week! I filled up a couple of memory cards from that trip and have yet to sit down and Photoshop them... soon, I will get to them. We've been hanging out at home and enjoying the spring weather before it gets so blistering hot that we barricade ourselves in the air-conditioned house. I also got some stamping time in the last couple of days, so all is well!

It's also been awhile since I've shared on Photo Fridays. I can't show you the photo with her team since I don't have their permission to post their photos, but here we are at the race. Last year, we couldn't get Sabrina out of the cart, but this year, she refused to sit in it, so I did instead while she clung to Daddy! This photo is especially for Uncle Ron... :)

While we were outside today, I captured a couple of photos that make me happy. The first is one of those rare, genuine Sabrina smiles (not the cheesy grin that I normally get). The last photo is from our wisteria vine. Each winter, it loses all of its leaves and looks like a dead stick. Then, when the weather warms up it magically grows leaves and beautiful blossoms.

Thanks for stopping by! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Yum! - Sketch For You To Try

I used Jen's latest Sketch For You To Try on my cuppie card. I finally got a chance to play with this new set from Taylored Expressions! Things were going along pretty well, but then several things went wrong. I stamped my image, colored with Copic markers, then my die slipped when I went to cut out the oval. Then it slipped again when I went to emboss it. Next, when I was putting my card together, I realized that I should have used off white instead of white cardstock... And, finally, when I went to add the oval matted image to the rest of my card, it stuck on crooked... tried to move it, but the foam tape is stuck! So, don't look too closely! LOL!

Stamps: Sweet Spring (Taylored Expressions)
Paper: pink cardstock, patterned paper (Taylored Expressions Key Ingredients); Indian Corn Blue (CTMH), white (Neenah)

I used Julee's Mojo Monday #78 sketch for my card today. I used one of new Verve releases, Everlasting Life. The March release was a big one (8 sets and 5 Plain Janes). Birthday Wishes

I used Amber's 3rd March Viva La Verve sketch for my card today. After a few days of not stamping, I found myself a little rusty -- taking a little more time here and there. I'm sure that I will get back into the swing of it shortly!

The weather is gorgeous here (76 now, with a high of 88 predicted). It looks like we're skipping spring and going straight to summer! Sabrina wants to go out and play in the sand, so we're off to play outside. Hope you have a great day!

Stamps: Miracles Blossom, Circular Sayings (Verve)
Paper: Aqua Mist, White (Papertrey Ink); Grow (My Minds Eye)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Accessories: Square Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Swiss dots embossing folder, Cuttlebug (Provo Craft); Markers (Copic), ribbon, rhinestones, foam tape.

Back from CA...

We're back from our short trip to CA! I took a bag of stamping stuff, but I never took anything out. We were too busy visiting with family...

I'm hoping to be back later today (or maybe not until tomorrow) with a card to share and I'll also be visiting blogs again to see what everyone's been creating.. :) Sabrina's on spring break this week, so my creating time may be limited, plus I have the pile of dirty laundry and bags to unpack also staring me in the eye..!

Hope you're all having a great week -- I'll be back as soon as I can!

I used Mercy's latest Stamps and Smiles sketch, SASSC6, for my card today. I had so much fun using this sketch - I'm going to file it for use another time! I gave this card to one of Sabrina's teachers. After swapping a few emails with her last week, it sounded like she really needed a hug.

Damask Designs - Just Because

Today I set out to try something new. I've noticed Kristina's color inspiration challenges and have always wanted to try one out, but I never knew when she posted them or when they were due. Well, this week, I set out to find out the 411! This color combination was just perfect for me. I've been stuck on pastels and spring colors. This one is a timeless, classic combination of black, grey and white.

When I saw the colors, I instantly knew that I wanted to pull out Damask Designs, Dawn's first set that she designed for Papertrey Ink. Damask prints are all over now and this one is just full of gorgeous options! I kept my card fairly simple because I really wanted to show off the stamped background. I think I will be pulling this one out time and time again!

Hope you have a great weekend! We are off to CA for a few days, but I have a few posts scheduled. Thanks for stopping by!

Happiness is Knowing You

When I sat down to stamp, I decided to stamp for fun - no challenges, assignments - just for fun. Then, I had no Mojo. Have you seen it, by the way? I went looking for some and decided to start with a sketch to give me some inspiration. Each Saturday, Lauren posts her My Time Saturday Sketch and this week I decided to play with her sketch! I decided to go super simple with my card - I was going for a crisp and clean look here.

Thanks for stopping by!

Riley Easter

Normally when I make my challenge cards, I just make one card. The downside to that is if I use 12" x 12" patterned paper, I always have a lot left over... my scrap drawers are overflowing! Today I decided to make a few for the Easter stash. The patterned paper is from last year, but it's new to me and perfect for Easter/Spring.

I used the latest sketch from Stamps and Smiles, SASSC5. I wanted a clean, simple and not too bulky card that wouldn't make my Post Office mad... hah! I flipped the sketch 90 degrees clockwise and added a few dew drops on the side.

Stamps: Easter Chick Riley Moose (Hanna Stamps)
Paper: White (Papertrey Ink), Blush, Kiwi (CTMH); For Peep's Sake (Imaginisce)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Accessories: Rectangle Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Cuttlebug (Provo Craft), Markers (Copic), dew drops (Robin's Nest), paper piercer, foam tape, mini glue dots.

Good Friends are Worth the Effort

Each week, Cindy and Frances take turns posting a sketch in the My Favorite Things forum on Splitcoast. I try to play every week, but I think this might be the first week that I actually finished it on time! I used Cindy's sketch, MFTSC71, and rotated it to accommodate my horizontal Flopsey image.

Thanks for stopping by!

Cheers from Riley!

I thought I'd start the week off with another Riley moose! I used Jen's Sketch For You To Try on my multi-layered card! After I showed Dan my Shamrock Riley card last week, he jokingly asked where is one with the beer (little did he know that I had such a stamp!). Sabrina really likes Riley, too -- whenever I am coloring a Riley, she shouts, "MOOSE"!

When I set out to make a few of these St. Patrick's Day cards, I was afraid I wouldn't be able to find any St. Patrick's Day green patterned paper. After a closer look, it turns out that I do have some! I stamped and colored Riley and added a sentiment from a Stampendous set (Riley's starting the celebration a little early -- hee hee!). My "Things That Riley Says" set is on its way and I can't wait to get it!

Hope you have a great week!

Stamps: St. Patty Beer Riley Moose (Hanna Stamps), sentiment (Stampendous)
Paper: Summer Sunrise, White (Papertrey Ink); Topiary (CTMH), Twitterpated (Imaginisce)

Accessories: Long Rectangle Nestatibilities and Double Ended Tags (Spellbinders), Tiny bubbles embossing folder, Cuttlebug (Provo Craft); Markers (Copic), Ticket punch (SU!), Candy dots (Pebbles), white gel pen, foam tape, sewing machine, thread.

Enjoy Today

Note: My friend, Stacy, is getting close to opening her online stamping/scrapbooking store... I am SO excited for her! It's going to be fabulous! Right now she only has a small sampling of her items on eBay, but stay tuned for the big grand opening announcement!

Tonight is the new Verve release! I can't wait! I don't have any Easter Verve sets and Julee is also releasing a fabulous Baby set, some wonderful new florals, butterflies and her wonderful Plain Jane stamps. Did I say that I can't wait!? This card is for the Verve Release Sketch Challenge.

I stamped my image (one of my favorite florals!), colored with Copics and added Star Dust stickles to the flowers and edges of the punched butterflies for some bling. The patterned paper is so pretty in real life - the light blue flower centers sparkle, too!

Hope you have a great Sunday!

My Stamp/Scrapbook Room Reorg, Part 1

Warning: Long post ahead - my longest so far... And, if you aren't a stamper, scrapbooker or organizational person, then you may think this is just crazy. The first time my Mom saw my room, she asked me if I had a store (love you, Mom!). But, I know you crafters can relate! Oh, and I say Part 1, not because I have a several part series planned, but I will add to this if/when I do reorg again!

Like many stampers and scrapbookers, I have constantly reorganized my creative space. In the end, you can try many ideas, but you have to find the best solution for you. I am fortunate enough to have my own room, and I started on a major reorg of it at the end of last year. I think my room will always be a work-in-progress, but I have come to a point where I am ready to show the progress that I have made (plus, I have several friends who keep asking to see photos now!). I often search online for ideas, so I hope this helps someone. It is often difficult to imagine the true layout of a room since the photos only show pieces here and there.

My room is a typical bedroom in a single family home (about 11' x 11') with a single door entry and one long closet (the door and closet are along the same wall. We had our house built just a few years ago and this is how my room looked when we first got our keys. View is from hallway, looking into room. Closet is directly to the left of door opening. One window on far wall -- other 2 walls are solid (referred to as L wall and R wall in future). This tour will be 360 degree, counter clockwise.

Before we moved in, I painted most of the house a neutral taupe color. For my stamp room, I wanted a different color, so I went with a lighter green (Ralph Lauren Polo - Sage Sweater). Then we added the natural maple shutters. This is my first photo of the room after we moved in (just the necessities -- i.e. my computer!).

Fast forward a couple of years (below is the first photo I took when I got serious about a reorg). My computer eventually moved along the L wall and my desk chair positioned under the window. I first started to tackle the R wall, which I had full of a hodge podge of furniture. Along that wall, I had a bookshelf, then a large oak entertainment center. Since we have 10' ceilings and the entertainment center was only about 6' tall, so I felt that there was a lot of space up there that I could be using! So, Dan and I looked into the idea of building a wall of cubes to replace the bookcase and entertainment center. The trick was that the cubes had to fit my 12"x12" scrapbook paper storage and albums, so we knew that we couldn't go with the standard cubes you normally would find. We thought that building our own would be the best option, until we found these double cubes.

My disclaimer: Please note that this points you to the actual brand and cube that we bought, but we did not buy all of them from this source. Long story short, I've seen these cubes priced from $20-$40 each, some with free shipping and some with outrageous shipping (they are very heavy). I bought these in phases from various sites (but I never paid for shipping) -- first, to try them out to see if they worked, then in batches when pricing changed. It was very frustrating at times, but in the end, it worked out for me. I also read some reviews where people thought the quality wasn't the best, so please don't take this as an endorsement -- they work well for me and they do what I need them to do, so I am happy with them so far.

By the time I took the next photo, I had completely unloaded the fully packed bookshelf (in preparation for the first set of cubes that I ordered), and you only see part of the entertainment center! For this photo only, think clockwise instead of counter clockwise.

The entertainment center worked well at first since it had many different places for me to store my things (and I also had a 20" tv in the center). It became less effective since there were small areas (for VHS tapes) and enclosed spaces that didn't work for me. That's when I decided that even though I like things put away, I also like to be able to see some of the things. That's when I started to look into cubes.

And, while I was reorganizing, I moved everything to the floor of my stamp room AND the guest bedroom. Here is the floor of my stamp room:

The first order was for 6 double cubes (though we knew we could go 7 high), but one of the pieces was cracked (once contacted, the manufacturer replaced it with no problems), so the first trial only shows 5 double cubes in the corner to replace the bookcase. Even though I knew I would have to move everything out again (we wanted to attach each column to the other for stability), I loaded up the new cubes to see how they would work. They worked great, so I ordered more!

Several weeks later (after the new year actually), we received the last of our cubes (and the broken replacement). We ended up going with 6 double cubes high and 3 double cubes wide. I'll come back to this area later. {The cubes were my Christmas present from Dan!}

Over a month later, I have had many attempts at organizing items inside my cubes (I did give up my 20" TV and moved that into the guest room -- so far it hasn't been a big deal). It isn't perfect, but here is my space right now.

From the door: My desk, computer is still in the far L corner. My desk holds (from R to L): my big computer monitor, Wishblade die cutter, photo printer/scanner). My wish list for this area is 1) a flat screen monitor (possibly wall-mounted); 2) a flat counter top to replace desk (and extend left to the closet w/ storage underneath).

To the immediate left of my desk is a set of modular drawers/cabinets with an unfinished top (bought at Lowe's several years ago - I think it was meant to be garage storage). It works fine for me now, storing some misc office/stamping supplies and provides a workspace (when it is clear). Immediately to the left of my printer is my prized possession -- my Genesis Trimmer, which I finally got after a 3-year wait-list (and yes, I it was worth the wait!).

The next photo shows a straight view of the area shown by the above photo. The white cubes are a shoe storage module that I got at Target. It holds my main stamping tools -- ink pads, some reinkers, cleaners. Right now, on top (L to R) I have my label maker, Gold Canyon candle, the last card I made and my Copic markers. To the far left is my Cuttlebug. In the drawer directly below it, I store my Cuttlebug accessories (extra plates, embossing folders, cutting dies) and my beloved Spellbinders dies.

That covers the L wall. The next wall is the closet. Here is a view of my closet R to L. There is a top shelf across the entire closet that holds empty scrapbook albums, alterable items, etc.. Below, I removed all of the hardware to hang clothes and put a tall dresser inside. It holds more office/stamping supplies. On the top of it is an oak ribbon holder (that my BIL, Dave, made!) that holds bulk ribbons on spools as well as other organizational drawers.

The left side of the closet is split into 2 levels (intended to hang clothes on the top and bottom). Again, I removed the hanging hardware. On top I have more organizational storage drawers and below I have rolling carts with drawers and more storage drawers.

If you are still with me, you are a true crafter! Moving farther to the left will bring you back to the open door, so now we will continue along the R wall (aka the wall of cubes). The first set of cubes is something I just added recently - I bought a 2x4 set of smaller cubes at Target (Closet Maid Cubeicals), assembled it and added the 8 pink cubes. They are perfect is for Sabrina's things. She can put all of her things in these cubes (and stop using MY storage area!).

On top of it are my tilt bins which were previously across the room where I replaced it with the shoe storage module. I had planned on putting the shoe storage module here, but the white laminate above didn't match the white laminate below (argh!). But, I made it work. In the smaller tilt bins, I store A-Z chipboard, etc. (one bin for each letter) and in the larger tilt bins, I store necessities like glues dots, binder rings, sponge daubers, thread, waxy flax, hemp, etc. They are great since you can see what you are looking for.

Immediately to the left of Sabrina's cubes begins my wall of cubes (which you saw earlier, but just empty). This is where the oak entertainment center used to be. I kept heavier things to eye level and below (and all cubes are attached to each other). So, my paper, scrapbook albums, punches, etc. are lower and lighter things are above them. I use these great Sterilite shoe drawers on many shelves (the white ones that are 6 per shelf). They hold most of my stamps and punches that I use often.

Some of the plastic bins with blue lids (also bought at Target) are empty now (they will be filled and labeled soon) -- I love that they hold 12" supplies (great for scrapbook supplies) AND they are stackable. The blue woven bins are also from Target. On the far left (2nd from the top shelves) are my embellishments (flowers, buttons, etc.) sorted by color in jars and in the cube to the right of them are my ribbons (see this post for how I decided to store them). Sabrina was curious why I was taking photos of my room and not her, so there she is sitting at my "Kraft" table.

Turning the corner yet again brings us back to the "far wall", the one with the window, which you see as you enter the room. At this point, Sabrina moved yet again. The slim white bookcase holds my "go to" sketch and idea books and my on the go supplies on the bottom. On top is a basket which holds my latest card creations.

My final photo is of my current "Kraft" workspace. It is a sturdy square table which was given to me by my friends, Steve and Cara, several years ago. It was my first dining table in the first house that I bought in California. It has survived many moves and still looks great and is reliable. Against the wall, I have the items I use most (from R to L - sewing machine, tool caddy, acrylic blocks, portable paper trimmer). Where Sabrina is standing is where I typically where I sit on my chair (which swivels between my workspace and my computer). The wooden chair is where I sit when I sew (or in most cases, where Sabrina sits when she tries to take over my workspace and make it her own!).

As I said, this is a work-in-progress, but I'm very happy with it now and probably won't be doing any major reorganization for awhile. I have no decor on the walls yet since I was undecided if I wanted wall shelving/cabinets or what, but I do intend to one day as I continue the quest for my perfect space. I will post new photos as I do!

If you've made it through this entire post (and you are not completely bored or asleep), thank you! If you have any organizational tips of your own that you'd like to share, please let me know, too! I am always open to new suggestions.

Viva La Verve Thanks a Bunch

I used Amber's Viva La Verve March02 sketch for my card today. The "twist" was to use the colors pink, red and green. This stumped me at first, so I went looking through my Basic Grey pads to find something. Sure enough, I did... in the Offbeat pad! It's not a color combination that I would have chosen myself, but I ended up liking it!

Hope you have a great Saturday! I'm off to go stamping with some friends!

Stamps: Serenity, Grateful Elegance (Verve)
