Mermaid Lily

For my card today I used Jen's latest Sketch For You To Try, flipping it 90 degrees to accommodate my layout. My ribbon/button embellishment was inspired by Susan Liles.

I stamped and colored Mermaid Lily (from the newly released Pink Cat Studio set, Lily at the Beach) on Neenah cardstock and colored her with my Copic markers. I finished her off with some Star Dust stickles. The stamp set and many other supplies can be purchased at The Scrapbooking Cottage.

I'm going to be taking a little break from blogging and email. Monday night I woke up with icky flu AND cold symptoms, everything hurts right now and my head feels like it's going to explode. Luckily I had this card made already because it took a lot of effort just to lift the camera to photograph it (so please excuse the poor photo)... I hear the couch calling my name...

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies
Stamps: Lily at the Beach (Pink Cat Studio)
Paper: Solar White (Neenah), Sorbet (CTMH), A Shore Thing (Imaginisce)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Accessories: Mega Curved Rectangle Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Cuttlebug (Provo Craft), Markers (Copic), Ribbon, Button (PTI); Star Dust Stickles (Ranger), foam tape.

Clean and Simple Viva La Verve

My card for today uses Amber's final Viva La Verve sketch, VLVApr05, for the month of April. I call this a clean and simple card which probably looks like it should have taken me 10 minutes to make, but in reality took a lot longer than that! The "twist" on her sketch was to make the card "springy". It doesn't get much more springy than a little singing birdie, does it?

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
Stamps: Hey There Sunshine Plain Jane (Verve)
Paper: Dutch Blue (CTMH), Solar White (Neenah), Spring Glitter Stack (DCWV)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Accessories: Peony Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Cuttlebug (Provo Craft), Scallop border punch (EK Success), rhinestones (Marcella by K), ribbon, paper piercer, foam tape.

Celebrate

Happy Cupcake Monday! I used Taylor's sketch, TECC65, for my card today. I was in need of a masculine birthday card, so I whipped this one up quickly. It is one of the few lightly embellished, flat cards you'll ever see me make! I stamped the "tower" of cuppie image from Sweet Celebration, which was perfect for the layout that I envisioned with a tall narrow image, colored them and paper-pieced the bottom of them with the same patterned paper I used for my main background.

The patterned paper that I used (both the blue and brown) are part of the digital kit, Bloom & Grown, by Songbird Avenue. Proceeds from kit purchases with be donated to Autism Speaks. As an added bonus, between now and April 30, both Jessica Sprague and Ali Edwards will match each kit purchase with a $2 donation to Autism Speaks on top of what is already being donated. The kit is full of beautiful coordinating elements and patterned papers, so I just couldn't pass up the chance to make a contribution to such a wonderful cause.

I hope you have a wonderful week! Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
Stamps: Sweet Celebration, A Year of Sweet Sentiments (Taylored Expressions)
Paper: Solar White (Neenah), Bloom & Grow (Songbird Avenue), Epson Matte Presentation Paper
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Accessories: Long Rectangle Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Cuttlebug (Provo Craft), Markers (Copic), Parisian border punch (EK Success), Ticket punch (SU!), Brown pearl (Kaisercraft), Star rhinestones.

This is a quickie post as I'm off to do some other things... I was in need of a card for a special friend of mine, so I whipped this one up using the new Verve set, Because of You, yet again! I used Julee's Mojo Monday sketch #83. Because I'm sending this out tomorrow, I finished off the inside as well.

I hope you're having a great weekend! Thanks for stopping by!

The Difference in My Life

Hello! Happy Saturday! I made this card for a card exchange with some stamping friends. It was a color challenge to use the CTMH colors Juniper, Tulip, Chocolate and Vanilla Cream (or like colors). I started using a vertical layout from one of the weekly sketch challenges that I usually participate in, then from there I changed it completely and ended up with this!

My new Verve stamps arrived a couple of days ago, and I couldn't wait to start creating with them! I used Because of You, which is my new favorite Verve set. It has the most beautiful wispy silhouettes and heartfelt sentiments. For the Juniper panel, I stamped the polka dots using Papertrey Ink's Polka Dot Basics. I sponged the edges of everything for a softer, vintage look.

Supplies:
Stamps: Because of You (Verve), Polka Dot Basics (PTI)
Paper: Kraft, Dark Chocolate, Vintage Cream (PTI); Juniper, Tulip (CTMH)
Ink: Dark Chocolate, Vintage Cream (PTI); Antique Linen (Ranger)
Accessories: Oval Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Cuttlebug (Provo Craft), Fleur de lis border punch (EK Success), Brads, Ribbon, Sponge dauber, Foam tape, Thread, Sewing machine.

Head Over Heels

I've been waiting for this Basic Grey patterned paper to be available as soon as I first saw photos of it from Winter CHA. I absolutely love the color purple, but I don't have much of it in my stash. I used Mercy's sketch, SASSC11, for my card today. I wanted to add a contrasting color to the purple, but I also wanted to tone it down, so I chose Kraft.

I stamped and colored headoverheels Huggabugg and it's hard to tell from the photo, but I added Star Dust stickles to her wings. I cut out my image as a circle, then I mounted it on cardstock cut out using the Blossom Nestabilities die. The rectangular Kraft panel was embossed with distressed stripes before topped with twill ribbon.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Supplies:
Stamps: headoverheels Huggabugg (Stamping Bella)
Paper: Kraft, Plum Pudding (PTI); Solar White (Neenah), Wisteria (Basic Grey)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Accessories: Circle and Blossom Nestabilities (Spellbinders); Distressed Stripes embossing folder and Cuttlebug (Provo Craft), Markers (Copic), Word Window punch (SU!), Star Dust Stickles (Ranger), ribbon and button (PTI), flowers (Prima), foam tape, twine.

Lily at the Beach

Today I'm featuring a new stamp set just released by Pink Cat Studio. The set is called Lily at the Beach. It is available NOW for purchase it at The Scrapbooking Cottage along with the Imaginisce Summer Cool designer paper and Neenah Solar White cardstock.

For my first card above, I used Amy's sketch, AMYRS65, to design my layout. It was fun and perfect for what I wanted to do with my elements. I stamped Lily and colored her with Copic markers. I cut out the image with my Rectangle Nestabilities and while the cardstock was still in the die, I sponged the sky and sand background. I finished it off with some stickles for a sparkly effect.

Detail shot:

For my second card I added some Kraft cardstock to give it a "beachy" feel. Once again I colored Lily and the turtle with Copic markers and added some bling to her accessories with stickles.

Be sure to visit Stacy, too, to see what she has created with this set! Thanks for stopping by!

Lily & Tweet Sketch For You To Try

Here's another card with the Lily & Tweet stamp set by Pink Cat Studio! You can purchase it at The Scrapbooking Cottage. I think I figured out why I like Lily so much. She reminds me of Sabrina. I think that's probably why I usually color her hair brown... LOL! I used Jen's SFYTT from 4/18/09.

I stamped and colored Lily, then I added Star Dust stickles to her hair tie, earrings and dress. I finished off the flower on her dress with a pink pearl.

Thanks for stopping by!

Lily & Tweet (Pink Cat Studio)
Paper: Hibiscus Burst, Spring Rain (PTI); Solar White (Neenah),
Fairest of Them All (Imaginisce)

Magical Day

I used Amber's Viva La Verve sketch, VLVApr04, for my card today. The "twist" was to use stamps to create your own designer paper. My goal was clean and simple with a touch of elegance. Since I still had my heat gun on my table from yesterday's card, I decided to heat emboss the elegant swirls from Artful Elegance with clear embossing powder onto black cardstock.

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
Stamps: Artful Elegance, Birthday Surprise (Verve)
Paper: True Black (PTI), Solar White (Neenah), silver glitter (Marcella by K)

Birthday Wishes

I made this for my Aunt, who is celebrating a birthday this coming week. I kept this card clean and simple (not a lot of layers). I used Amber's Viva La Verve sketch, VLVApr03. The "twist" was to use the Stampin' Up! colors Summer Sun, More Mustard and Baja Breeze. I don't have these colors, so I opted for PTI Lemon Tart, Summer Sunrise and Aqua Mist.

At first I stamped the strip of Summer Sunrise (darker of 2 yellows) with Verve's Grateful Elegance border stamp using Versamark (watermark) ink. The pattern didn't show up as much as I wanted it to, so I added some clear embossing powder and heat embossed it.

I hope you're enjoying your weekend! Thanks for stopping by!

Recipe
Stamps: Grateful Elegance, Meditations, Circular Sentiments (Verve)
Paper: Lemon Tart, Summer Sunrise, Aqua Mist, Everyday Blessings (PTI); Solar White (Neenah)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Versamark (Tsukineko), Summer Sunrise (PTI)
Accessories: Circle Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Cuttlebug and Just My Type border embossing folder (Provo Craft), corner rounder (EK Success), Star Dust stickles (Ranger), clear embossing powder, heat tool, paper piercer, foam tape.

Happy Birthday Birdie

I made this card for my BIL. Happy Birthday, Vince!

I used Julee's Mojo Monday sketch #82 for my Happy Birthday Birdie card today. I always struggle with masculine cards, probably because I like to use ribbon, scallops and flowers a lot! I did sneak in a strip of polka dot ribbon on the card and instead of finishing it off with a bow or flower, I added a trio of buttons tied in twine.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Thanks for stopping by!

Recipe
Stamps: Birthday Surprise (Verve)
Paper: Dark Chocolate, Vintage Cream, Kraft (PTI); Archaic (Basic Grey)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Accessories: Square Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Cuttlebug (Provo Craft), Markers (Copic), dotted wave punch (EK Success), ribbon, buttons (PTI), twine, foam tape.

Final Verve April Release Challenges

Edit: Congratulations to my sweet friend, Stacy, who has officially opened her new store!! Please visit her at The Scrapbooking Cottage (I have a link to her on my sidebar as well).

Julee is releasing new Verve stamps tonight!! I made these cards using the last two of her April release week challenges (VSAPR3 and VSAPR4). Since there are a total of 4 and the 4th one is a color challenge, I decided to use the same colors and patterned paper on all 4 cards.

The first card was designed using the VSAPR3 sketch. I stamped and colored the smaller butterfly from Beautiful Kindness twice, cut one out and adhered it on top of the other. I finished the one on top with Waterfall Stickles and rhinestones for some bling.

The second card is for VSAPR4. There was no sketch - it was a color challenge to use Soft Blue, Soft Yellow and Soft Brown. I started off using Jen's Sketch For You To Try (4/11/09), but I ended up changing my layout from 6 squares to 4. I stamped the largest flower from Grateful Elegance 6 times, colored them all and cut 3 out, then I popped them on top of the others, slightly turned to make the flower appear more full. I finished off the top flowers with a yellow rhinestone.

The last photo shows all 4 cards together. I think they will make a nice gift!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Thanks for stopping by!

Card 1 (4.25" x 4.25")
Stamps: Beautiful Kindness (Verve)
Ink: Memento Rich Cocoa (Tsukineko)

Verve Flowers of Tomorrow

My card for today uses Amber's Viva La Verve sketch from April week 2, VLVApr02. The "twist" was to use background stamps. I created the background from Verve's Filigree Fantasy, but I thought it was too overpowering to use to cover the entire card base, so I just used it in a couple of spots and kept white as my primary background.

Thanks for stopping by!

Recipe:
Stamps: Filigree Fantasy, Flowers of Tomorrow Plain Jane (Verve)
Paper: Hibiscus Burst, True Black (Papertrey Ink); Solar White (Neenah), Sabrina (Making Memories)
Ink: True Black (PTI)

Wishing You a Happy Birthday Cuppy

I used Mercy's sketch, SASSC10, to make another cuppy card! Her fun sketch is on the Stamps and Smiles sketch blog. I colored and paper-pieced her identically to the one in the post below, but I used a different layout and cardstock. This is the card that I gave to Stacy yesterday! I stamped the inside with "Wishing You A Happy Birthday".

Happy Cupcake Day and Birthday Wishes

I want to wish my sweet friend, Stacy, a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Stacy is owner of The Scrapbooking Cottage, an online scrapbooking/stamping store which will be opening very soon (not just an eBay store)! I'll have a link and more info before her grand opening!

I made this card for a swap I will be doing with Stacy and another friend later today. I also made a card for Stacy that looks similar, but it has a different layout. I will post it later as I know she is an early bird and might peek at it before I give it to her! I used Taylor's TECC63 for today's card.

Hope you have a great week! Thanks for visiting!

Easter Treats

Happy Easter! These are the Easter gifts that Sabrina gave to her teachers, therapists and para aides last week... I made made 16 in all! I got the idea from Julie Buhler's blog, here. She had made these up for her children to exchange as Valentine's with their classmates and was kind enough to share her instructions!

The only change I made to her instructions was to cut the cardstock in half instead of in fourths. I wanted my treat bags to be a little larger. I searched for a candy bar that would fit inside, but other than the mini-sized ones, they all stuck out a little on the sides. How did I discover this? Well, I went to Wal-Mart, picked up a few candy bars (I was hoping to fill each treat bag with a Lindt candy bar.. yum!), then I went over a couple of aisles over to the office supplies and used a ruler to measure them. If anyone was watching me, I'm pretty sure they thought I was crazy (I did this more than once). I needed my candy to be fairly flat, too. I ended up filling a clear bag with Dove chocolates.

My main image is the large bunny from Verve's Chocolate Bunnies. I just love that bunny! I colored her and the eggs with Copic markers, paper-pieced the large egg with the dotted swiss cardstock that I used to make the treat holder and finished her bow off with some stickles.

I also made a simple 3"x3" card to go along with the treats. I used Taylor's TECC62 sketch, scaled down for my small gift card.

Stamps: Chocolate Bunnies (Verve)
Paper: Dotted Swiss Rope Swing cardstock (Bazzill), White (Neenah), Blush (CTMH)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)

Happy Birthday - Mojo Saturday

Good morning! It's been one of those weeks -- I'm so glad it's the weekend!

My Happy Birthday card for today uses Julee's Mojo Monday sketch #81 and the newly release set from Taylored Expressions, Fresh Flowers. I couldn't wait to ink it up. The images are so whimsical and fun!

I stamped the flower twice, colored them both and cut the flower and leaves off one image and popped it onto my main image. I finished the flower off with some Star Dust stickles just around the eges of the flower and a rhinestone center.

I hope you're having a great weekend! Thanks for stopping by!

Happy "Bee"day, Mom!

First off, I want to wish my sweet mom a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I made this card for her. I started off using a sketch, but then I veered from it so much that it ended up being not even close to the sketch. My mom loves to watch the hummingbirds feed and chase each other around. She has a couple of feeders in her yard and has to refill them every few days as she has a very loyal following. I mean, who wouldn't come back daily to feast on homemade nectar?

I started off searching in my stash for patterned paper with hummingbirds on it. I found it in my spring stack. It was a little brighter than I had intended the card to be, but I went with it. Hopefully it doesn't blind her.

I hope you have a great Easter weekend! Thanks for stopping by!

Stamps: BEEday Huggabugg (Stamping Bella)
Paper: Raspberry Fizz, White (Papertrey Ink); patterned (DCWV spring glitter stack)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Accessories: Labels Three (Spellbinders), Cuttlebug (Provo Craft), Markers (Copic), candles border punch (EK Success), Star Dust stickles (Ranger), tiny rhinestones (CTMH), brads, ribbon, foam tape, thread, sewing machine.

With Sympathy

I was in need of a sympathy card this week, so I pulled out some soothing patterned paper and used Jen's Sketch For You To Try (from 4/4/09) to design the layout of my card. As I look at my photo above, I wish I had matted the 3 squares with either Kraft or chocolate cardstock instead of the white, but it's all stuck down now. This is the type of card that I never seem to have in my stash as it is one that I hope I never need.

After finishing up my card, I realized that I actually needed 2 sympathy cards, so I used the scraps from the first card (love double-sided patterned paper!) and made another. This time, I matted my squares with chocolate cardstock, added ribbon and stamped a different image from the same Life set.

I hope your week is going well. Thanks for stopping by!

Recipe
Stamps: Life, Mixed Messages (Papertrey Ink)
Paper: Kraft, Dark Chocolate, White (Papertrey Ink); patterned (SU!)
Ink: Memento Rich Cocoa (Tsukineko)
Accessories: Long Rectangle Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Cuttlebug (Provo Craft), dotted wave border punch (EK Success), butterfly punch (Martha Stewart), square punch (EK Success), paper piercer, rhinestones, foam tape.

Sick Riley

Sabrina has a little cold, so it made me want to make a get well card. I never have one of these on hand when I need it! I used Amy's sketch, AMYRS64, for my layout. No matter how cheerful I tried to make the card, Riley still looks sick. I stamped my Riley twice. Both are colored and the 2nd one is popped on top of the other.

I hope your week is going well! Thanks for stopping by!

Stamps: Sick Riley (Hanna Stamps)
Paper: Melon Berry (Papertrey Ink), Solar White (Neenah), patterned (DCWV Citrus stack)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)

Scented Geranium

I used Cindy's sketch, MFTSC75, for my geranium card. I have this fun stack of 6"x6" Stampin' Up! papers that I recently got from Karen Giron. I'm so glad that I got them! She purchased all of the designer papers from the latest catalog, cut them up and sold them in a paper share. I usually get all of my supplies out, but this time I chose my patterned paper first, then I colored my image to match. When I went to find matching cardstock, I discovered that I didn't have the shade of blue that I wanted, but I was able to use the designer paper for everything (minus the white cardstock).

Thanks for stopping by!

Recipe
Stamps: Scented Geranium (My Favorite Things)
Paper: Solar White (Neenah), Patterned (SU!)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)

Simple Heartfelt Thanks

This is one of several ultra-simple card that I will be making somewhat mass producing. I'm putting together some simple notecard sets to give as gifts at the end of the school year. I'm going to take advantage of my large assortment of patterned paper and keep the stamping to a minimum. I'm also keeping embellishments to a minimum so the cards aren't too bulky. I used Charmaine's Weekend Sketch #74 from a couple of weeks ago.

I hope you had a great weekend! Thanks for stopping by!

Recipe
Stamps: Everyday Classics (Papertrey Ink)
Paper: Dark Chocolate, Vintage Cream (Papertrey Ink); patterned (My Minds Eye)
Ink: Memento Rich Cocoa (Tsukineko)
Accessories: Rectangle and Petite Oval Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Cuttlebug (Provo Craft), ticket punch (SU!), bella dots (Stamping Bella), ribbon, foam tape.

Just Because You're You

Good morning! I hope you're having a great weekend!

I haven't had a chance to stamp the last couple of days, and I didn't have anything scheduled for the weekend, so I made a quick card this morning using Julee's Mojo Monday #80. I was in such a hurry when I was assembling it, that I forgot my ribbon on one of the panels. I tried to take it off and add it later, but I thought better of it when the paper started to rip.

Unless suddenly there are more hours in the day, I think I'll need to skip a few of my regular challenges this week. I've been indecisive on Easter gifts for Sabrina's teachers, therapists and aides and so far, I have nothing! I started making some gift cards for them, then I realized that there would be no way I would finish up 13 gift boxes by the end of the week. Then I found a cute basket tutorial, but I again, I find myself short on time. This morning I found a cute (and hopefully fast) treat bag, so I think I'll try to see if I can whip some of them up today. Enough of my rambling... thanks for stopping by!

Recipe
Stamps: Beautiful Kindness, Circular Sayings (Verve)
Paper: Tulip, Baby Pink (CTMH); White (Neenah), floral designer paper (SU!)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko), Tulip (CTMH)
Accessories: Labels Four Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Cuttlebug (Provo Craft), wave border punch (EK Success), flower (Prima), dew drops (Robin's Nest), rhinestones, foam tape.

We Appreciate You.

Happy Friday! I used Jen's Sketch For You To Try {from 3/28/09} for my Huggabugg card today. This one is called Appleybowl Huggabugg. I searched through my patterned paper stash and found one with some apples on it {I just knew that I had to have some}! I know that apples and teachers are somewhat cliche, but I thought this one would make a cute card for one of Sabrina's teachers.

I stamped her and colored her with Copic markers. I added some polka dots to the bowl with my white gel pen and though you can't really see it, stickles to her wings, antennae and the bottom of her dress.

I hope you have a great weekend! Thanks for stopping by!

Sending a Happy Hello

Good morning! I just loved this cute little "big-headed" birdie! Everytime I look at her, I laugh -- to me it looks like she's telling someone off.. or in this case, she's saying Hello. I used Amy's Friday sketch, AMYRS63.

I hope you're having a great week! Thanks for stopping by!

Congratulations.. You Did It!

I used Frances' sketch, MFTSC74, for my Reading Flopsey card. I've been hoarding this abc patterned paper for quite some time now. I decided to pair it the ABC border punch from EK Success. The sentiment is from the newly released Papertrey Ink anniversary set.
Thanks for stopping by!
