Mojo Warmest Wishes

Good afternoon! The title of this post just makes me giggle... it is over 100 degrees outside and here I am posting a card with Changito in a scarf and hat, enjoying a hot drink! Come to think of it, though, he can't be that cold since the rest of him isn't covered... :)

A couple of weeks ago, Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge was to create a card related to coffee, tea, mugs, etc. I didn't have a chance to play, but I made a mental note to try it soon. I used Julee's Mojo Monday #101 sketch.

I hope you're having a wonderful weekend! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Note: Yesterday, Stacy hosted her first fundraising event to earn money for breast cancer research. We had some make and takes and sold some handcrafted items. I am so happy to say that we raised $338 in just a few hours! Although the event is now over, Stacy will continue to do help by donating 10% off all sales {from now until the end of September} to the cause. For more information, please visit Stacy's store, The Scrapbooking Cottage.

Canning on Photo Friday

Happy Friday! Unfortunately, I don't have a card to show you today. Sabrina came home from school early yesterday, and today she is home with a sinus infection. So, no stamping time for me! I thought I would share my photo of the day. I know she doesn't look sick in the photo, but all morning she's been coughing and hacking away -- the rest of the time she's riding her car around or singing in front of the mirror. On the days when she doesn't have a fever or appear to be too sick, I'm always on the fence about letting her go to school, but today I decided to keep her home as she is still pretty congested. Hopefully the antibiotics kick in soon. I see a nap for her this afternoon, though that might be wishful thinking on my part...

Lately I've been in a canning/preserving mood. I recently got some new stamps that would be perfect to add onto a little Mason jar as a gift tag. Last week I made dill pickles for the first time. I still have 7 more weeks until I can try them, so I'll have to wait and see how they turned out... at least they look good enough to eat... :) This morning I made grape jelly -- at least I won't have to wait as long to try it. Wish me luck that it sets up the first time. I hear lids popping {meaning the jars are sealed}, so that's a good sign.

Tomorrow I'm helping Stacy with her first Breast Cancer Scrapbook Event. There will be make and takes, handcrafted items for sale and snacks ~ all to help raise $$ for a great cause. If you live in the Phoenix area, please stop by and say hello! The fun takes place on Saturday, August 29th between 12-4 at Celebrations Church {8726 W. Olive Ave., Peoria, AZ}.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Thanks so much for stopping by!

You're My Shining Star

Good morning! Sabrina started 1st grade last week, and she has done just great so far! Last year it took her much longer to transition to the routine of going to school all day. This time around, she's a year older, and we were fortunate to have her attend 5 weeks of summer school which helped tremendously.

I made her this card to let her know how proud we are of her and of how well she has adjusted to new teachers and the new school year. I used Mercy's sketch, MTSC36, and tried to keep the layout somewhat clean and simple. I was not one of the fortunate ones to find the new Martha Stewart loopy punches in stock at Michael's, so instead of obsessing about not having it {at least for now}, I decided to pull out my MS arch lattice punch to make the border. I dry embossed the Hibiscus Pink cardstock with the new Cuttlebug Stars embossing folder and added some star rhinestones and Star Dust stickles to the polka dot star for some girly bling.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Supplies ~
Stamps: Star Prints, Fancy Flourishes (Papertrey Ink)
Cardstock: Hibiscus Burst, New Leaf, White (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black (Tsukineko)
Accessories: Rectangle and Scalloped Rectangle Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Star embossing folder and Cuttlebug (Provo Craft), Arch lattice border punch (Martha Stewart), Star punch (Fiskars), Star Dust stickles (Ranger), Star rhinestones, Foam tape, Thread, Sewing machine.

Merry Christmas... TSC Wednesday

Good morning! Welcome to another TSC {The Scrapbooking Cottage} Wednesday! Stacy and I are featuring a couple of new holiday products in her store! First off, she has Cosmo Cricket Jolly By Golly {both the 12x12 Crafting Kit and the new 6x6 Mini Deck}. Secondly, you'll want to check out all the new holiday Changito cling stamps! All of these products can be found in the store.

My card shows a very happy Changito shoveling snow! I colored the majority of my image with Copic markers. I used my silver Spica glitter pen to add some shine to his shovel and Star Dust stickles for some additional sparkle. I used a SCS sketch from a couple of weeks ago, SC241.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Take Care... Feel Better Soon

Good morning! I've been wanting to play with Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketches for awhile now. As each week begins, I save the sketch on my computer, then somehow time gets away from me and another week has gone by and it gets filed in my "future sketches" folder. This time I finally made the time to play with her current sketch #32. I was also in a mood to play in a challenge with no particular theme or product requirement except for the sketch, so it was a perfect one for me!

I made this card for a special someone who has been under the weather for awhile. I hope she likes it! I used one of the new Papertrey Ink sets, Autumn Abundance, and paired it with some earthy, fall colors.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you have a wonderful week!

Happy Holidays

Happy Sunday! I hope you're having a wonderful weekend! I looked through my Christmas card stash and realized it's still pretty low, so I decided to work on some holiday/Christmas cards while I'm in the mood. This card is for Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge #38. I followed her lead and used Taylor's sketch #77 from a couple of weeks ago. I hadn't played with it yet, and it's a fun one! I thought it fitting to use one of the many fun images that Sparkle stamped off and mailed to me recently! Thanks so much, Sparkle!

Enjoy what's left of the weekend! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Hi all! I hope your weekend is going well! I've been busy canning dill pickles all morning and finally decided to see if I could find some inspiration in my craft room. I thought what better place to rediscover my mojo than with a Mojo Monday sketch? Julee and her team have had some great Mojo sketches all week in celebration of Mojo turning 100, but I haven't had any time to play until now. I used Mojo #100 for my card.

Simple Joy and Photo Friday

Good morning! My card today is CAS {Clean and Simple}. Stacy and I got to spend some time at the Sizzix booth at the Southwest Summer Show. It wasn't very busy, so our demonstrator, Jill, let us play and play! I absolutely love the new, soon to be released Big Shot Pro {a 12" die cut/embossing machine}... wow! Hey, a girl can dream... right?!

I came home with a bag of my goodies that I cut out, embossed, etc. with both the Big Shot and the Big Shot Pro. When I first saw these adorable trees, I envisioned a very simple black mat over a white card base, so that is what I created. I only added the Joy sentiment, rhinestones and paper piercing, then I popped the image with foam tape. Super simple!

And since it's been a long time since I shared a photo on Photo Friday, here's a photo of Sabrina on her first day of 1st grade this week.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you have a fabulous weekend!

Stamps: Mixed Messages (Papertrey Ink)
Cardstock: True Black (Papertrey Ink), White Dotted Swiss (Bazzill), Other white (Unknown)

To Risk

Hi all! I hope you're week is going well! It's been a busy one for me. First, Sabrina started school on Monday. Then, Stacy and I spent a couple of days at the Southwest Show previewing some of the new products that were announced at Summer CHA a few weeks ago. She will have some fun, new products in her store, The Scrapbooking Cottage, very soon!

Besides not having a lot of time to stamp this week, I haven't felt real inspired either. I did manage to come up with this simple card using Mercy's sketch #35. I absolutely love this sketch ~ I will definitely be using it again!

Last week, we went to Meet the Teacher Night at Sabrina's school and Sara {one of Sabrina's wonderful teachers} and her daughter asked me if I had heard about Smirk. Smirk is an entire line of cute, cute scrapbooking/stamping papers, embellishments, etc. Well, I hadn't heard of it before, but thanks to her enabling, I not only know about it, but I now own some of it! The patterned paper is from Smirk ~ Naughty But Nice collection. I used one of Verve's new Plain Janes, To Risk. If you check out the Verve shop, you can get this stamp free with a purchase right now!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Supplies ~
Stamps: To Risk (Verve)
Cardstock: Raspberry Fizz, Dark Chocolate, White (Papertrey Ink)

It's filled with some fun images and sentiments that can be used all year long! You can find this set and a lot of holiday {and year-round stamping and scrapbooking goodies} at

I decided to add a couple of simple cards to my Christmas stash, so I used the gingerbread man center and the border sentiment, "Wishing You a Merry Christmas". The starting point for my card was the sketch, Fall to Layout #55, but I veered off a bit from it by the time I finished.

From Me To You Gift Set

This is my 3rd and final project for the Hanna Stamps Round 2 Guest Designer Challenge. You can see my first project here and my second project here. I was honored to be one of 15 stampers chosen to participate in the second round of the challenge. Six of us will be selected to be a guest designer for Hanna Stamps for a 2 month period. The other finalists made some amazing projects ~ you can check them all out here! Regardless of the outcome, I had a lot of fun creating with Bathtub Riley and would like to thank Kristi and Vicki for the opportunity!

Now, onto my project...

The only requirement for today's project is that it be ABC (Anything But a Card). I made an Origami Box using a tutorial from SCS here. The base of the box is made out of Bazzill Black Swiss Dots cardstock. The cover is a piece of chipboard that was scored and covered on both sides with Making Memories Sabrina patterned paper. The box is finished off with Black Silk Ribbon (it is really soft and luscious in real life!).

I stamped Riley (obviously I made Riley into Sophie G) 6 times and colored each image with Copic markers. I added Star Dust Stickles to her bubble bath water and champagne, Black Diamond Stickles to her shower cap and finally some Liquid Glass to the bubbles. Each image was cut out with Circle Nestabilites and I lightly sponged the edges for a little vintage effect.

Inside of box: (black sticker reads Smile & Laugh -- you can click on photo to enlarge)

I made a set of 5 notecards and envelopes to put inside the box. Each card ended up being about 3 7/8" x 3 7/8" to accommodate the envelopes that I made. To make the envelopes, I printed this template onto Epson matte presentation paper, cut, scored and assembled them.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Supplies ~
Stamp: Bathtub Riley (Hanna Stamps), Sentiment from Everyday Button Bits (Papertrey Ink)
Cardstock: Classic Crest Solar White (Neenah), Black and White Swiss Dot (Bazzill), Matte Presentation Paper (Epson)
Patterned Paper: Sabrina (Making Memories)
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black (Tsukineko), Chamomile Vintage Touch (Papertrey Ink)
Accessories: Circle, Scalloped Circle and Mega Curved Rectangle Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Cuttlebug (Provo Craft), Markers (Copic), Scalloped Sentiment border punch (Fiskars), Liquid Glass, Rhinestone Label (CTMH); Star Dust and Black Diamond Stickles (Ranger), Chipboard, Silk Ribbon, Red line tape, Pearls (Kaisercraft), Sticker (Making Memories), Foam Tape, Thread, Sewing Machine.

Note: And if you're wondering... I originally had called the stamp Bubble Bath Sophie G (for those of you who don't know, Sophie G is the female moose and Riley is the male moose from Hanna Stamps), but since Kristi is selling the image as Bathtub Riley, I am making the correction here as well as my previous posts. I still made the moose female, though, since I don't know many males who take bubble baths and/or drink champagne while doing it {except the one episode of Friends when Chandler and Monica are drinking champagne while taking a bubble bath and Monica hides underwater when Joey comes into the bathroom because they are hiding their new relationship!!}... and yes, that is the first thing that came to mind when I received this image in the mail... what can I say -- I am a Friends junkie!!!

TSC Wednesday!

Good morning! I hope you're having a great week! Our summer trips have come and gone, and this is the last week of summer vacation before Sabrina starts 1st grade. I have bags to unpack, piles of laundry and an empty refrigerator, but I just needed to take a little bit of time to stamp a little something first!

This week, Stacy and I are featuring Changito School for TSC {The Scrapbooking Cottage} Wednesday. It just seemed appropriate with school right around the corner. I chose this sweet image of Changito sitting and reading a book. This reminds me of Sabrina right now. It's so exciting to see her looking through books and learning to read! I used Mercy's sketch, MTSC34, for my layout. You can find the Changito clear stamp set and other great stamping supplies in Stacy's store HERE.

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies ~
Stamps: Changito School (Stampendous)
Cardstock: Vintage Cream, Aqua Mist (Papertrey Ink)

Relax - Sophie G

Hi all! Today is part 2 of the Hanna Stamps Guest Designer challenge. My card features Bubble Bath Sophie G Moose {Riley's sweetheart}.

I stamped Sophie G twice and colored her with Copic markers. I cut Sophie's body out on the 2nd image and popped it on top of the first one for some added dimension. I added Star Dust stickles and Dew Drops to her bubbles.

Here's a close-up of her:

Edit 8/12/09: The name of this stamp is actually Bathtub Riley (now available for purchase).

Forever in Our Hearts... Viva La Verve

Greetings from the beautiful state of Oregon! We had a 6-hour flight delay, arrived at 1 AM (too late to get our rental car) so we had to stay overnight in a hotel. We finally made it to our lakefront cabin, so our vacation has officially begun!

I'm back with my final Viva La Verve card for July. Amber's VlvJul04 sketch can be found here. The "twist" is to use vellum. In case you're wondering where the vellum is on my card, it's the translucent circular panel on the bottom left (you can sort of see the stitching near the top of the circle). The double bow was made with my Bow Easy.

I have some posts scheduled while we're gone. I hope you have a wonderful week! Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies ~
Stamps: Because of You, Forever in Our Hearts (Verve)
Cardstock: Vanilla Cream, Spring Moss, Lemon Tart (Papertrey Ink)
Patterned Paper: Lilykate (Basic Grey)

Accessories: Rectangle and Scalloped Rectangle Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Swiss Dots embossing folder, Cuttlebug (Provo Craft); Scalloped corner rounder (Marvy), Rhinestones (Kaisercraft), Ribbon (Papertrey Ink), Bow Easy, Foam Tape, Thread, Sewing Machine.

The party kicked off over on the Verve blog, so if you’ve just happened along, be sure to hop on over there to start from the beginning! And to make this party a real shindig, there’s a mystery jackpot hidden at one of the stops along the hop. One lucky commenter on that blog will win Verve’s entire August release! But of course, it wouldn’t be a mystery if you knew which blog, would it? So if you’re feeling the love, give a little shout out to the bloggers in the hop and you just might have a reason to jump for joy!

I used Julee's Mojo Monday Week 97 sketch for my Welcome Baby card. I used Verve's Practically Perfect stamp set. I stamped and colored the adorable bunny with Copic markers, then I sponged the background for a vintage look. I finished her bow off with some Star Dust stickles and added some dimensional glaze to her necklace. The image and sentiment panels are popped up with foam tape.

Thanks for stopping by! Now it’s time to hop on over to Kayla’s blog, for a little more Verve-y goodness.

Enjoy the Moment - Sophie G

Edit 8/12/09: The name of this stamp is actually Bathtub Riley (now available for purchase).

Today I have the pleasure of featuring Bubble Bath Sophie G Moose {Riley's sweetheart}. To my knowledge, this single stamp hasn't been officially released yet. Back in June, Hanna Stamps had a Guest Designer call and I decided to enter. I was very excited to learn that I made it to Round 2 of the challenge! It is a 3-part challenge and today is the first.

I stamped and colored Sophie with Copic markers, then I added some Star Dust stickles to highlight the water. I then cut the image out with my Nestabilities and popped the panels up with foam tape. I used Mojo Monday sketch #97 for my layout.

I hope you have a great weekend! Thanks for stopping by!
