Apple Pie Mojo

Happy Halloween! OK, so I don't have a Halloween card to show you today... instead I have another card for my Christmas stash (though the colors are very fall-ish). Today's card combines 2 challenges... First is Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge #47, which is to use some kind of cooked/baked holiday goodie. The first image I thought of was this adorable Pink Cat Studio digi, Itty Bitty Betty - Baked a Pie. I used Julee's Mojo Monday #110 sketch.

I first sized my image to accommodate the sketch, printed and colored her with Copic markers. I really loved Julee's stunning Weekend Wreath card here. The red and gold make for a such a beautiful combination. I decided to print out some digi papers from the Sweet Shoppe Designs kit, The Good Earth. When I think of pies, I automatically think of apple since that is the pie my mom used to make the most when I was growing up! I don't make apple pie, but I do make a pretty tasty apple crisp... I think I'll be making one this weekend!

I hope you have a safe and wonderful Halloween! Thanks so much for stopping by!

'Tis the Season to be Fairy!

Hello all! Happy Friday! Sabrina is really into Tinker Bell now! I found some adorable Tinker Bell stamps by EK Success and can't wait to ink them up when they arrive. For now, I thought this Pink Cat Studio digi image of Snowflake Fairy Lily would be fun to use. I used Taylor's sketch, TESC88, and I had intended on playing along with C4C8 to use three geometric shapes, but I got a little sidetracked (unless you call Labels Four a geometric shape). For the purposes of the challenge, let's pretend it's an oval. After all, my first draft was cut out in an oval shape. I had printed my Lily image, colored it, then I added some Stickles to her fairy wings, and I ended up with a big mess. My ink ran and I ended up with a greyish black glittery mess.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Supplies ~
Stamps: Snowflake Fairy Lily and sentiment digi (Pink Cat Studio)
Cardstock: Classic Crest Solar White (Neenah), Buttercup (CTMH)
Patterned Paper: Jolly By Golly (Cosmo Cricket)
Accessories: Labels Four Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Snowflake embossing folder (Provo Craft), Snowflake border punch (Martha Stewart), Markers (Copic), Taylor's Tiny Twinkles (Taylored Expressions), Rhinestones (Kaisercraft), Foam tape, Thread, Sewing machine.

Joy to the World

Good morning! I just couldn't resist the trio of Angel Emmas by C.C. Designs. I went with the digital images this time. This is one of them, sweet Emma with her horn. I made this for a couple of challenges. Firstly, I used Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch #41 for my layout. This is also for the JUGS4 challenge to add a 3-D flower to your project. The double layer crochet flower is one made by my SIL, Mary. I added pearls as a finishing touch to the card.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Stamps: Angel Emma digi (C.C. Designs), Holiday Button Bits (Papertrey Ink)
Cardstock: Vintage Cream, Dark Chocolate (Papertrey Ink)

TSC Wednesday... Changito

Good morning! For today's TSC {The Scrapbooking Cottage} Wednesday, Stacy and I are featuring a couple of the Changito holiday stamps. I chose Changito Elf. I used Mercy's sketch, MTSC45, for my layout. It was just perfect for this image. I think it's hilarious how big the ornament is that he is carrying ~ it's bigger than he is! Sentiment reads "Merry & Bright".

Be sure to visit Stacy's store HERE. There still is time to get free shipping on all US orders {through the end of October} and check out her blog to see the special of the week {40% off all Basic Grey in-stock items}.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

a day at the pumpkin farm

Good morning! Today will be a quickie post as I need to be out the door soon... I'm back with a double layout from our recent visit to a pumpkin farm. While making the Pumpkin Emma card yesterday, I decided to stamp off and color two images and used the second one here on my layout. The title reads "a day at the pumpkin farm... gone bad". I think that pretty much says it all!

Left side:

Journaling reads:
"On this particular Saturday (October 17, 2009), we decided to visit one of the local pumpkin farms. It was a bit more run down than I had hoped, and the fact that it was 100 degrees out didn’t help. We waited in the short line, paid our $21 entry fee (kind of steep), and Sabrina, you were fine until it was time to get your hand stamped (to show that we had paid). We got through that OK (though you kept wanting to go wash your hands) and went in to do some exploring. It’s hard to say if it was the tractor, big pumpkin face, corn maze, goat, ponies or something else, but you were immediately unhappy. We tried for a family photo (normally you like photos), but didn’t like this. Next, we tried the playset, and you happily climbed up, then you decided that you didn’t want to slide down. Then, no matter what we tried, you hated it and fussed and screamed even more. I tried for one last photo in front of the sad looking pumpkin patch, only to find out there were targets set up next to it with some sort of air gun shooting. That pretty much ended our time at the farm. Daddy carried you off to the car while I bought a small pumpkin and some tomatoes from the produce stand. When you saw the pumpkin, you were so happy and carried it around the rest of the day. It took me several years to finally give up on taking you to see Santa (each year you would create a big scene and shed a lot of tears), but I think this may be our last trip to a pumpkin farm… for a little awhile."

TSC Wednesday... Hello Pumpkin!

Good morning! Welcome to another TSC {The Scrapbooking Cottage} Wednesday! Stacy and I are using a couple of the adorable Sugarplums Emma fall stamps. I chose Pumpkin Emma with some non-traditional fall colors of Sweet Blush and Aqua Mist mixed in with typical fall colors. They went perfectly with my patterned paper, which is from the newest Cosmo Cricket mini deck, Nutmeg.

We went to a local pumpkin farm over the past weekend, so I was inspired to scrapbook since I had some new photos and wanted to use this adorable Emma image again. I'm still working on the finishing touches of my layout, so I'll try and post that tomorrow.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Stamps: Pumpkin Emma, AmyR Autumn Sentiments (C.C. Designs)

Wishing You Holiday Happiness

Good morning! I just love the Taylored Expressions set, Wings of Joy! For my card today, I used the sweet image featuring the birdies holding the line of socks, mittens and hats. Not only do I have another card for my Christmas stash, but I was also able to play along with a couple of challenges this week. First off is Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge #46. The theme this week is to use some sort of winter clothing. Secondly, I used the colors of Pure Poppy, Vintage Cream and Aqua Mist for the "Just Us Girls" Challenge #3. Finally, I was attempting to play along with CPS138, but I ended up omitting one of the panels and adding a trio of pearls instead.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

With Sympathy

Good morning! Unfortunately, I was in need of a sympathy card, so I sat down to make this one over the weekend. A close friend of ours suddenly lost his mother. I kept this one fairly simple, using one of Mercy's fabulous sketches (MTSC43) as my layout. It's always hard to know exactly what to say on a sympathy card, so I used one of the sentiments from Verve's Forever in Our Hearts. My patterned paper is flocked and I added some pearls and silk ribbon to finish off the card.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Supplies ~
Stamps: Forever in Our Hearts (Verve)
Cardstock: Vintage Cream, True Black (Papertrey Ink)
Patterned Paper: La Creme stack (DCWV)

Dude!

Hello! I have another Whipper Snapper card to show you today. This one uses Anna Wight's newest set, His Favorite Things. I just love this boy image, especially the fact that he's ready to play ball in his cowboy boots! Since it's playoff time, I was inspired to create a baseball themed card.

Try as I might, I just couldn't get a good shot of this card. The black panel is actually embossed with my Cuttlebug stars embossing folder (though I chose to use the backside -- the debossed side?). Here is a close-up of that (you may have to click on the photo to enlarge).

I hope you're having a great weekend! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Supplies ~

Stamps: His Favorite Things (Whipper Snapper)
Cardstock: True Black, New Leaf, kraft (Papertrey Ink); Classic Crest Solar White (Neenah)

Be The Star You Know You Are

Good morning! I made this pop-up card for Verve's Project Parade. The theme is Friendship/Encouraging Words. This little creation will go in Sabrina's room to remind her how much we love her, how much we believe in her and as an encouraging reminder to "Be the Star you know you are". This sweet sentiment is part of the Verve set, Starstruck. I embossed the Hibiscus Burst cardstock with my Cuttlebug stars embossing folder and added a star rhinestone over the star on the sentiment to complete the "Star" theme.

This is Sabrina's 1st grade photo, taken just a month ago. I was asked by her teacher's and aides to share the photo with them, but I couldn't just cut the photo and hand it to them, so I decided to make them a pop-up card as well. Theirs will be very similar to this one, but with a sentiment to express our gratitude for everything they do.

Edit: Here is the teacher version I just finished - I used a floral embossing folder, PTI sentiment which I cut out using Ribbon Tag Trios 2 and tied some grosgrain ribbon around...

I hope you're having a wonderful weekend! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Supplies ~
Stamps: Starstruck (Verve)
Cardstock: Vintage Cream, Hibiscus Burst, Dark Chocolate (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black (Tsukineko)

On Wings of Joy Mass Production

Happy Friday! I decided to play along with the Taylored Expressions Merry Mass Production challenge to mass produce some Christmas cards for my stash. I'm not a huge fan of mass production, but when you make 100+ cards (like I do) for Christmas, sometimes it is a necessity. So, I sat down to make some fairly simple cards, but I ended up spending a bit more time than I had planned on my "model" (I usually try to complete one card to make sure that I like it, then I set out to mass produce). So, here's my model... I used Taylor's sketch, TESC86, once again.

I used one of my all-time favorite Cuppie images, Snowman Cuppie, from Home Sweet Home. I colored him with a combination of Prismacolor pencils/Gamsol and Copic markers and paper-pieced his scarf and part of his hat. I also wanted to incorporate one of Taylor's newest holiday sets, Wings of Joy, as well. I stamped the little birdie (from the Joy image), colored and cut her out and popped her atop one of Cuppie's arms. I added some Star Dust Stickles to Birdie's hat. The ric rac grosgrain is bright pink, and nearly a perfect match for my patterned paper, though I can never that pink to photograph correctly... I promise in real life, it matches! Finally, I absolutely love how some stampers finish off the insides of cards. Denise is one I've seen do this the most often. Here's a look at the inside of the card:

And last but not least, here is my "mass production" pile ~ I made 5 cards in all.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Supplies ~
Stamps: Home Sweet Home, Wings of Joy (Taylored Expressions)
Cardstock: Choice Snow White (Taylored Expressions), Vibrant Teal (Prism)
Patterned Paper: Colorful Christmas (My Mind's Eye)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Versafine Onyx Black (Tsukineko)
Accessories: Labels Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Snowflake border punch (Martha Stewart), Prismacolor pencils, Odorless mineral spirits, Markers (Copic), Star Dust Stickles (Ranger), Pearls (Kaisercraft), Ric Rac Grosgrain (May Arts) - from Jody, Foam tape, Thread, Sewing machine.

Season's Greetings

Good morning! I used Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch #39 for my card today. I'm trying to continue to build up my Christmas stash! I used a couple of new (to me) stamp sets. First off, I stamped off the label from Claire's new set, Very Vintage Labels No. 4 {it is currently sold out but soon to be back in stock in the store}. Isn't it cool how it fits the Labels Four Nestabilities perfectly! There are a lot of other label sizes and fun coordinating do-dads in the set. Next, I finally inked up the Papertrey set, Peaceful Poinsettia (sentiment and trio of poinsettias), and it fit perfectly inside the label.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Supplies ~
Stamps: Very Vintage Labels No. 4 (Waltzingmouse Stamps), Peaceful Poinsettia (Papertrey Ink)
Cardstock: Vintage Cream, Dark Chocolate (Papertrey Ink)
Patterned Paper: Tis the Season (Bo Bunny)

Accessories: Labels Four Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Arch Lattice border punch (Martha Stewart), Scalloped corner rounder (Marvy), Markers (Copic), Rhinestones (Kaisercraft), Taylor's Tiny Twinkles (Taylored Expressions), Ribbon, Foam tape, Thread, Sewing machine.

TSC Wednesday... JustRite Witch Way

Good morning! It's time for another TSC {The Scrapbooking Cottage} Wednesday! Stacy and I are using the JustRite set, Witch Way to the Treats, to create some fun Halloween projects. According to the JustRite Stampers blog, they are sold out of this set, but you can still get yours from Stacy's store! Plus, you get free shipping on all orders {through the end of October}. There are 10 separate images and borders in the set that you can mix and match. These would make quick Halloween cards or even tags to include on treats for your little ones to hand out to their friends at school!

I used a couple of different image centers and borders to create a simple Halloween card. I stamped the center and border together a couple of times and used circle punches to create each layer. I popped the colored layers a couple of times on top of the smaller Fleur de Lis pendant (Spellbinders). My patterned paper is part of the Bo Bunny Boo Crew collection.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Supplies ~
Stamps: Witch Way to the Treats (JustRite)
Cardstock: Classic Crest Solar White (Neenah), True Black (Papertrey Ink)
Patterned Paper: Boo Crew (Bo Bunny)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Accessories: Fleur de Lis Shapeabilities Pendants (Spellbinders), Spider Web border punch (Martha Stewart), Circle punches (EK Success), Foam boosters, Foam tape, Thread, Sewing machine.

Ribbon Riley JUGS Challenge

Good morning! Today I'm playing along with a new challenge, "Just Us Girls" or JUGS... ;-) This is just their second challenge. I didn't get a chance to play in the first one, but I did use the sketch from week one and this week's technique challenge to use paper piecing. It was also optional to use pink somewhere on the card in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I decided to take it a step further and actually make an awareness card using Ribbon Riley {note: I am unable to provide a direct link to this stamp at Hanna Stamps right now because the store is closed for inventory}. I paper pieced the ribbon, and I added one of my homemade crochet awareness ribbons as an embellishment.

I hope your week is off to a great start! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Supplies ~
Stamps: Ribbon Riley (Hanna Stamps)
Cardstock: Classic Crest Solar White (Neenah)
Patterned Paper: Just Chillin' Girl paper pad (Making Memories)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Accessories: Oval and Scalloped Oval Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Apron Lace border punch (Fiskars), Markers (Copic), Candy Dots (Pebbles), Ribbon, Foam tape, Thread, Sewing machine.

October Whipper Snapper Release!

Good morning! It's time for another Whipper Snapper release! Today, there are two new Anna Wight cling sets, Her Favorite Things and His Favorite Things. The two sets are so adorable and full of images to use all year round!

Here is a preview of the new sets:

For my first card, I made a Christmas themed card. I did some paper piecing and added some crazy stitching onto my patterned paper, but otherwise tried to keep it fairly clean. I used the sketch SC249 for my layout.

For my second card, I wanted to showcase not just the boy, but some of his favorite things. I stamped each, colored with Copic markers and punched out squares. I used Fall-to-Layout 57 as my inspiration, though my card is far from Clean and Simple. I stitched around each square but since it's supposed to be a masculine card, I tried to keep the frills to a minimum.

I hope you've enjoyed my little preview of the new sets. I've been having a lot of fun with them and will be continuing to show my creations in the coming weeks. Be sure to check out what the other designers have created... you will not be disappointed!

Merry Christmas

Good morning! I am back with a quick post for today... I had a chance to play with one of Taylor's newest sets, Wings of Joy. I used her latest sketch, TESC86. I stamped the tree image once, colored it, then I stamped it a second time and cut out the little birdies and popped them on top for a little dimension. After coloring the ornaments, I went over them with my clear Spica glitter pen, and finally I sprayed my image panel with Iridescent Gold Glimmer Mist and inked the edges. This also will be my card for Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge Week #45 which is to make a card with a bird on it!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hello! I hope you're having a good weekend! I've been busy working on some projects for the next Whipper Snapper release, but I decided to take a short break and play with Mercy's sketch #42 which I flipped 90 degrees. I just loved working with this sketch! This also doubles as Vicki's Crazy 4 Challenges #6, which is to create a card with a thankful theme. I used the Itty Bitty Betty - Turkey Ride digital stamp. Isn't she just adorable?! I don't usually make Thanksgiving cards since I am usually knee deep in making Christmas cards, but I just couldn't resist this one.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Wishing You...

a very HAPPY Birthday! I made this birthday card for my girlfriend, Chris... I hope you have a FABULOUS birthday, girl!

I used Jen's Sketch For You To Try and kept this fairly simple. I used some of my current favorites {colors = pink/brown and patterned paper = Basic Grey Indian Summer}. I also used a new favorite stamp set, Verve's Wishing You. I would have added some machine stitching, but my machine had just jammed up on me, and I wanted to get this in the mail to her. It won't get to her in time, but I'm hoping she stops by for a visit and sees this.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Supplies ~
Stamps: Wishing You (Verve)
Cardstock: Rustic Cream, Dark Chocolate, Raspberry Fizz (Papertrey Ink)
Patterned Paper: Indian Summer 6x6 pad (Basic Grey)

Mojo Autumn Wishes

Good morning! I used Julee's latest sketch, Mojo #107, for my Autumn Wishes card. I finally had a chance to play with some of my new Verve. I used Harvest Blessings. I stamped the fall wreath once in Ripe Avocado, then once again in black. After I colored the flowers, I cut each of the black inked ones out and popped them on top to complete the wreath.

I hope you're having a wonderful week! Thanks so much for stopping by!

TSC Wednesday... Lockhart

Good morning! Happy TSC {The Scrapbooking Cottage} Wednesday! Stacy and I are having fun with some of the Lockhart stamps she recently added to the store. She has also extended free shipping on any order through the end of October!

My card uses Pie in the Window. Doesn't it just make you want to go into your kitchen and bake a pie right now? Mine would probably be apple. In fact, I have all the ingredients (including freshly picked apples) for one, but I will probably make an apple crisp instead. Anyway, back to my card... I used Taylored Expressions Sketch #85 for my layout. This card could be used for almost any occasion, but I decided to add the simple sentiment, Holiday Wishes, and add it to my Christmas stash.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Stamps: Pie in theWindow (Lockhart), Wonderful Wishes (Verve)

Itty Bitty Betty and a Few Photos

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend! We were busy with fun family activities (see photos at the end of this post), so no stamping time for me. I did get a little time this morning to finally work with Mercy's Tuesday Sketch #41. I made this quick card using with Itty Bitty Betty taking a broom ride (it looks like her kitty is holding on for dear life!).

Saturday we went on a road trip to an apple orchard and went apple picking. Then we stopped by a pumpkin farm for more outdoor fun. For once, it actually felt like fall!

Sabrina has been begging me to make her a tutu since last week, so that occupied my time for a couple of hours on Sunday. After impatiently waiting for me to finish, she put it on and told me to take pictures. Here's one:

Warm & Cozy Greetings

Hello! Happy Friday! I just have a quick post for this morning. This is a Clean and Simple card that I made with one of Anna Wight's newer Whipper Snapper sets, Winter Quilt. I chose 4 fun quilt blocks, stamped them and colored them with Prismacolor pencils and odorless mineral spirits. Then I punched them out with a 1" square punch and adhered them to the white label panel. I just love the different quilt blocks available in this set and also Homespun Quilt. I have lots more planned with these for future projects!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Let Your Light Shine

Good morning! I can't believe how quickly this week is flying by (or year for that matter). Since it is October now, I consider it officially the holiday season! After all, once Halloween comes around, Thanksgiving, Christmas and the new year just seem to be right around the corner.

A few days ago, I was browsing Ali Edwards' blog as I do on a regular basis.  I came across her post about Cole and was intrigued to go over to read about him here. Stories like this always touch my heart especially because I am the mother of a special needs child. My Sabrina does not have autism like Cole does, but she has had her own journey that has made life challenging at times. Yet when I read stories like Cole's, I realize that we are actually one of the lucky ones. Cole's mom, Mikki, has created an incredible digital scrapbooking kit available for a donation to her Walk for Autism effort. And believe me when I say that it is incredible! It took the better part of the morning for me to download it.

I used Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch #37 and a few of the digi papers from Cole's kit. I just printed each onto Epson matte presentation paper. The stars were punched from one of the printed patterned papers. The sentiment is from Verve's, Starstruck, stamp set.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
