Final Verve Challenge Projects

Hello! I'm back with my final two projects for Verve's Blog PaRtY. First is the Mini Pizza Box challenge by Susan and Jen del Muro. The challenge was to make a Mini Pizza Box (see Jen's tutorial here). I also used Jen's Sketch For You To Try (11/28/09) for my box top layout. I've been wanting to make one of these for awhile now -- they are super fast and fun to make. Box is 4" x 4" x 1". It is the perfect size for a set of little notecards, small gift items or even a gift card -- the possibilities are endless!

Speaking of gift cards, for the final challenge Jen Tapler and Sankari challenged us to make a gift card holder. I used these instructions for a pop up gift card holder, but I wanted it to lay flat and be like a card with a pocket, so I adhered it so it wouldn't pop up. I used some of the same patterned paper as I did on my pizza box (from Making Memories) and inserted a shiny Nordstrom's gift card -- now who wouldn't like that?!?

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Verve Sketch and Embellishment Challenges

Good morning! I have a couple of cards for Verve's Blog PaRtY challenges 2 and 3. First is a sketch challenge by Laurie and Tosh. The challenge also has a "twist" of thankfulness.

I made a "sentiment" card, which is one of my favorite things to do with the beautiful Verve sentiments and quotes. This one is from Delightful & Delicious. I embossed my Dark Chocolate panels with retro diamonds, but it might be hard to see in the photo.

My second card is for the embellishment challenge by Lynda and Michelle. The challenge is called Embellish with V-E-R-V-E and the challenge is to create a card or project using an embellishment that begins with the letters in VERVE. I used V - velvet ribbon and 2 kinds of R - rhinestones (tiny ones on the ornament and the larger ones along the side panel). I used Beate's Weekend Sketch #108 for my layout.

I was able to squeeze some extra stamping time in this weekend, and I finished all 5 Verve challenges... woo hoo!! I wasn't able to photograph the final two, so I will be back later today with those projects.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Mojo Verve Color Challenge

Hello! My card is for Verve's Blog PaRtY Challenge 1, a color challenge by Teresa and Mercy. I couldn't find any turquoise, so I used Aqua Mist, a lighter turquoise in my mind. My colors are Aqua Mist, Ripe Avocado, Black and White. I used the Mojo Monday #114 sketch for my layout. I always have the hardest time photographing dark ribbon. It's so much prettier IRL as it is a faux sueded ribbon from May Arts.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Viva La Verve... Merry Christmas

Good morning! I used Amber's final Viva La Verve sketch for November, VLVNov04 (which means, yea! I finished all of the sketches this month!). The "twist" was to use the colors purple, chocolate and vanilla. I stamped the poinsettia from Verve's Poinsettia Christmas and colored it with Copic markers. I added tiny sterling microbeads to the center of it and Star Dust stickles around each petal.

I hope you have a great weekend! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Happy Thanksgiving!

First of all, I'd like to wish all of my family and US friends a very Happy Thanksgiving!

I managed to squeeze in a little stamping time in between preparing our Thanksgiving feast. It didn't seem right to post a Christmas card, so I used one of the Sugarplums Thanksgiving digi stamps. This one is Emma with a pie. I used SC255 for my layout and my colors are for the JUGS8 color challenge. I used Orange Zest, Spring Rain and Terracotta Tile.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

TSC Wednesday... JustRite Thanksgiving

Good morning! For TSC {The Scrapbooking Cottage} Wednesday this week, Stacy and I are celebrating Thanksgiving and everything that we are thankful for! I am especially thankful for all of my family and friends! I used some favorite JustRite stamps to create a quick Thanksgiving card. Of course, if I was on the ball more, I'd have made a few of these for my stash and they would be in the mail, but I'm still working on Christmas cards.

I used Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch #45 and some Cosmo Cricket Nutmeg paper. I also used a few JustRite stamps, Favorite Occasions Borders & Centers 1 5/8" and stamped the cornucopia and colored it with markers. Unfortunately, it looks like this set is out of stock in Stacy's store right now. For my border, I used a combination of Celebrations Demi Phrases Set 2" and the 15 pt Times New Roman font to spell out, "Love, Dan, Steph & Sabrina".

I threw my second project together quickly since I had nearly run out of time! It uses some of the same supplies and my card. Sabrina and I made some chocolate chip cookies last night for her to give to some of her teachers and aides for Thanksgiving. I had planned on making some treats for Halloween, but we were all sick, so that didn't work out.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Supplies ~
Stamps: Favorite Occasions B&C 1 5/8", Celebrations Demi Phrases 2", 15 pt Times New Roman font (JustRite)
Cardstock: Classic Crest Solar White (Neenah), Dark Chocolate, Orange Zest Vintage Cream (Papertrey Ink)
Patterned Paper: Nutmeg 6x6 mini deck (Cosmo Cricket)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Versamagic Wheat (Tsukineko)
Accessories: Circle and Scalloped Circle Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Circle Punches, Eyelet Lace border punch (EK Success); Markers (Copic), Foam blending tool, Ribbon, Glassine bags, Foam tape, Thread, Sewing machine.

Viva La Verve... Season's Greetings

Hello! I'm back with another Viva La Verve card. I used Amber's Viva La Verve sketch, VLVNov03. The "twist" was to create a fall/winter holiday card. I stamped the largest snowflake from Snowflake Splendor three times in Versamark and heat embossed with some sage embossing powder.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Supplies ~
Stamps: Snowflake Splendor (Verve)
Cardstock: Select White, Dark Chocolate (Papertrey Ink), Versamark (Tsukineko)
Patterned Paper: Holiday Collection Combo Pack ~ Home for the Holidays & Winter's Wings (Webster's Pages)

Viva La Verve... Winter Wonderland

Good morning!

Before I get to my card details, I have a couple of housekeeping items... First off, sorry for any of you who might have had duplicate emails or updates in Google Reader yesterday. I scheduled my post for 6 AM MST, then around mid-morning I noticed that my post disappeared, then re-posted. I'm not sure what was going on with Blogger! Lastly, I've had to turn word verification back on my comments since I've had some nasty spam this past week. Sorry for the extra step! I do read each and every comment and want to thank you for taking the time to comment.

Now on to my card... I used Amber's Viva La Verve sketch, VLVNov02. The "twist" was to use the cracked glass technique. It's been awhile since I've done that! I used one of the "tree flakes" from Verve's Frosty Flakes. Instead of adding an oval panel, I placed one of my oval Nestabilities onto my cardstock and pierced around the inside of it to create my pierced oval.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Supplies ~
Stamps: Frosty Flakes, Christmas in the Air (Verve)
Cardstock: Select White, Enchanted Evening (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Snow White, Enchanted Evening (Papertrey Ink), Versamark (Tsukineko)
Accessories: Square Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Snowflake embossing folder (Provo Craft), Snowfall border punch (Martha Stewart), UTEE, Paper piercer, Foam tape.

Mojo Wonder

Hello! I hope you're having a great weekend! I absolutely love all of the new Verve holiday sets, but I also loved last year's releases. I used one of my favorite holiday stamp sets from last year, Snow Wonderful. I used the Mojo Monday Week 113 sketch for my layout. I stamped my snowman twice, colored both and cut one of just his head. I added a button to his mid-section, then I popped the cut out head on top. I just re-read that and it sounds like I did terrible things to the poor snowman... don't worry, he is just fine... :)

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Supplies ~
Stamps: Snow Wonderful (Verve)
Cardstock: Select White, Scarlett Jewel (Papertrey Ink)
Patterned Paper: Jolly (American Crafts)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Accessories: Rectangle, Scalloped Rectangle and Scalloped Circle Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Swiss Dots embossing folder (Provo Craft), Circle punch, Markers (Copic), Scalloped scallop border punch (EK Success); Button, Ribbon (Papertrey Ink), Foam tape, Thread, Sewing machine.

Pixie Lane MTSC48

Hello! I had a chance to do some shopping and have lunch with my friend Stacy this week. Of course, our shopping included a trip to a local scrapbook store and Joann's. I finally gave in and bought my first Unity stamp set, Pixie Lane. We both loved the set and when Stacy told me that one of the cottages was what she envisioned when she started The Scrapbooking Cottage, I just knew that I had to make her Christmas card with the image.

I used Mercy's Tuesday Sketch #48 for my layout. I loved the long sketch (my card is 4" x 8") so that I could show off more of the fun Eskimo Kisses patterned paper. I dry embossed the Scarlett Jewel panel with Candy Cane Stripe embossing folder and added tiny rhinestones all around the leafy vines.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Stamps: Pixie Lane (Unity)
Cardstock: Select White, Scarlett Jewel (Papertrey Ink)

Celebrate Tinker Bell

Hello! Ever since Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure was released on DVD, Sabrina has been in love with everything Tinker Bell. We also added the first Tinker Bell movie to our collection, so we've been alternating between the two. They are both very sweet stories. I can totally see how Sabrina relates to Tinker Bell -- they are both sweet and sassy!

My card today combines a couple of challenges. First off, I used Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch #44 for my layout. I'm also playing along with JUGS7, which is a technique challenge to use dry embossing. After I started my card, I realized there is also a JUGS twist to make a birthday card. I had already decided that I was going to make a Tinker Bell card for Sabrina, but it's not her birthday... then I realized her 1/2 birthday just passed... on 11/14, she is officially 6-1/2 years old!

My image of Tinker Bell is one of a few fun ones from Disney's Tinker Bell clear stamp set. I colored her with Copic markers, added Star Dust Stickles to her fairy wings and Polar White Flower Soft to the tops of her shoes. It's hard to see, but I dry embossed my lavender moon panel with Butterflies Impressabilities. I also dry embossed the butterflies with Swiss Dots. The Tinker Bell ribbon is from Michael's.

You've seen my Tinker Bell card, so now here's my "Tinker Brina":

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Stamps: Tink clear stamps (EK Success), Mixed Messages (Papertrey Ink)
Cardstock: Lavender Moon, Select White (Papertrey Ink), Intense Teal (Prism), Key Lime (CTMH)

TSC Wednesday... JustRite Something Sweet

Hello! Happy TSC {The Scrapbooking Cottage} Wednesday!!! Today, Stacy and I are featuring JustRite Something Sweet. It's a set of 6 round borders and centers perfect for holiday cards, tags, gifts and more!

Today, I am used a couple of the sentiments in this set to make quick and simple Christmas cards. All of my patterned paper is Cosmo Cricket's Jolly By Golly. Both cards are pretty self-explanatory and both use Taylored Expressions Sketch, TESC91. It's such a fun sketch and worked well with the sentiments and borders that I chose. My first card has some paper piercing in lieu of stitching and chipboard holly leaves which coordinate with the patterned paper. My second card uses the fun candy cane paper, cut up and stitched around each rectangle. I added some ribbon to this one. Both are finished off with red pearls.

Be sure to visit Stacy's blog to see what she has created ~ you're sure to love it!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

CAS Happy Holidays

Good morning! I tried my hand at another CAS (Clean & Simple) 10-minute card {but in truth it took me a lot longer than that even though it may not look like it did}. I used Fall-to Layout #68 and Verve's Frosty Flakes. I finished off my image panel with a healthy spray of Pearl Glimmer Mist, waited for it to dry, then mounted it on my card base with foam tape. The pearl mist is shimmery in real life, but pretty much impossible to see in the photo {sorry!}.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Stamps: Frosty Flakes (Verve)
Cardstock: Enchanted Evening (Papertrey Ink), Classic Crest Solar White (Neenah)
Ink: Enchanted Evening (Papertrey Ink)

A Tribute to Henry

Good morning! I made this card for a special JUGS charity challenge, to honor the life of Henry Anderson. Henry was just three years old when he suddenly became ill and passed away earlier this month. His mother, Sarah, is a very talented stamper, and the very giving stamping community has pulled together to help the family through this tragedy. This digital image, Henry's Snow Angel, was created by Paper Makeup Stamps. All proceeds from the sale of this special stamp will go to the Anderson family.

I used the sketch, SC254, for my card. I could not find a sentiment in my stash of stamps that I liked well enough, so I generated "snow angel" on my computer.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Supplies ~
Stamps: Henry's Snow Angel (Paper Makeup Stamps)
Cardstock: Pure Poppy (Papertrey Ink), Classic Crest Solar White (Neenah)
Patterned Paper: Sweet Dreams Holiday Avenue (My Mind's Eye)

Christmas Sentiment Cards

Good morning! I'm here with a card that I made for Mercy's Tuesdays Sketch Challenge #47. I wanted to keep my card fairly simple and to have the focus on this great sentiment from Verve's Christmas in the Air. It reminds me of when I was little and my dad used to play his classic records or listen to the stereo each Christmas. When I close my eyes I can remember hearing Andy Williams belting out this classic tune.

I loved how Tosha made a gorgeous set of cards using several of the wonderful sentiments from the latest Verve release here. This sketch is perfect to showcase some pretty patterned paper and have the sentiment be front and center. I know that I will be using it again and again!

After I finished my first card, I belatedly realized that I had planned on using Mercy's sketch and making an easel card for Crazy 4 Challenges #10. So, since I still had my supplies out, I made another card. The size is slightly different, but I used the same supplies. Only the sentiments are different {from Verve's O Christmas Tree}.

I hope you have a great weekend! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Supplies ~
Stamps: Christmas in the Air , O Christmas Tree(Verve)
Cardstock: Vintage Cream, True Black, Kraft (Papertrey Ink)
Patterned Paper: Mistletoe 8x8 pad (Making Memories)
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black (Tsukineko)
Accessories: Rectangle and Scalloped Rectangle Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Embossed Curve border punch (EK Success), Buttons (Papertrey Ink), Black Twine (May Arts), Foam tape, Thread, Sewing machine.

Blingy Button Santa

Good morning! Today I'm playing along with the JUGS6 sketch challenge. My card ended up being a bit busier than I had first imagined it, but I decided to stop messing with it and leave it as is! I finally broke out one of Papertrey Ink's newest sets, Holiday Button Bits. I also used some glitter paper for the background, punched snowflakes out of more coordinating glitter paper and added rhinestones all around.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Supplies ~
Stamps: Holiday Button Bits (Papertrey Ink)
Cardstock: Pure Poppy, Vintage Cream (Papertrey Ink)
Patterned Paper: Wonderful Winter (My Mind's Eye)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Accessories: Circle and Scalloped Circle Nestabilities, Snowflake Borderabilities (Spellbinders); Snowflake punch (Marvy), Markers (Copic), Button (Papertrey Ink), Rhinestones (Kaisercraft and Queen & Co), Foam tape, Thread, Sewing machine.

TSC Wednesday... JustRite Autumn Blessings

Good morning! Happy TSC {The Scrapbooking Cottage} Wednesday! Stacy and I are featuring JustRite's Autumn Blessings. It is a set of 6 oval centers and 6 borders that you can mix and match. It's so versatile, too. I chose to stamp my image and cut it out as a rectangle instead of an oval. I used Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch #43, resisting the urge to straighten my image panel!

Be sure to visit Stacy's blog to see her beautiful creation and to find out what the weekly special is!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Supplies ~
Stamps: Autumn Blessings (JustRite), Sentiment from Around & About Sentiments (Papertrey Ink)

Ten Minute Tuesday

Hello! I didn't have a card scheduled to post this morning, and I realized that this often happens to me on Tuesdays. I am a fairly slow stamper, so I challenged myself to make a card in 10 minutes (though it actually took me 15 minutes from start to finish). I got the idea from the Clean & Simple blog (they often post Ten Minute Monday cards) and I used their latest sketch, Fall-to Layout #67, and this is the end result. I used Papertrey Ink's 2009 Holiday Tag Collection, stamped my image in green and went over the berries with a Dark Red Copic marker.

I'll be back tomorrow for TSC {The Scrapbooking Cottage} Wednesday... Thanks so much for stopping by!

Supplies ~
Stamps: 2009 Holiday Tag Collection (Papertrey Ink)
Cardstock: Vintage Cream, New Leaf (Papertrey Ink)
Patterned Paper: Mistletoe (Making Memories)
Ink: New Leaf (Papertrey Ink)
Accessories: Circle and Scalloped Circle Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Marker (Copic), Ribbon, Foam tape, Thread, Sewing machine.

Blessed Christmas SFYTT and Christmas Card Challenge Week #49

Good morning! I'm playing along with Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge Week #49, and I used Jen's latest Sketch For You To Try (11/7/09) for my Blessed Christmas card. I absolutely loved this sketch! The circle was perfect for the beautiful wreath from Verve's O Christmas Tree. I stamped, colored and cut out the bow and the poinsettias and popped them on top of the wreath for dimension. I was inspired by Amy's take on the sketch here and how she added her sentiment on the top and bottom narrow panels, so I did the same with a sentiment from Blessed Christmas.

The wreath and the sentiment panels are popped up with foam tape. I added some stitching, then I finished off the middle of each poinsettia with a pearl. Since I didn't have any scarlett pearls, I used white ones and colored them with my R89 Copic sketch marker.

Have a great week! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Supplies ~
Stamps: O Christmas Tree, Blessed Christmas (Verve)
Cardstock: Scarlett Jewel, Vintage Cream (Papertrey Ink)
Patterned Paper: Oh Joy (Cosmo Cricket)
Ink: Memento Rich Cocoa, Versamagic Wheat (Tsukineko)
Accessories: Circle and Labels Eight Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Markers (Copic), Pearls (Kaisercraft), Foam tape, Thread, Sewing machine.

Merry Christmas Mass Production

Good morning! I have a pretty good Christmas card stash (much in part to Sparkle's weekly Christmas card challenges), but I didn't participate every week and still have a lot to make since we send out around 150 cards each year (yeah, I know... it's crazy!). I created this card for Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge #90. I really liked this sketch and kept my card fairly simple, so I decided to mass produce it. I got together with my friend Gina yesterday to do some stamping and chatting, and I got off to a good start by stamping off a bunch of the sentiments and images, coloring the cupcakes and cutting out the circles and distressing them.

My image is Lockhart's Holly Cupcake. I used the 2" JustRite circle stamper with the Times New Roman 15 pt alphabet to spell out my sentiment, "Merry Christmas From The Kraft Family". I also used some new goodies ~ some fun patterned paper recently released by Papertrey Ink and a holly border punch. I embossed the white strip with snowflakes.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Supplies ~
Stamps: Holly Cupcake (Lockhart), Times New Roman 15 pt (JustRite)
Cardstock: Spring Moss, Pure Poppy, Select White (Papertrey Ink)
Patterned Paper: Rustic Snowflakes (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Versamagic Wheat (Tsukineko)
Accessories: Circle and Scalloped Circle Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Snowflake embossing folder (Provo Craft), Holly Edge stamp (Martha Stewart), Markers (Copic), Rhinestones (Kaisercraft), Foam tape, Thread, Sewing machine.

Hi there!

Hi there! A few weeks ago, I was browsing through the Whipper Snapper store in search for some lamb and sheep stamps, and I discovered a whole new (to me) area. I had only been looking through the cling mount sets and only just found there are many single image and sentiment stamps. I checked out the farm animals section and found several adorable sheep... this is one of them ~ Autumn Sheep. I think my SIL, Mary (who is a big fan of everything lamb and sheep), will smile when she sees this image! Since my "Happy Harvest" card didn't bring the good fortune that I had hoped it would, I thought maybe a simple "Hi there" will help to bring a bountiful harvest (and slow down the rain and cold weather).

I used Mercy's Tuesday's Sketch Challenge, MTSC46, and paired it with some Cosmo Cricket, Nutmeg, patterned paper. And, even though my SIL and BIL don't harvest pumpkins, I thought this image was too cute to pass up sending on!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful weekend!

Supplies ~
Stamps: Autumn Sheep (Whipper Snapper), Mixed Messages (Papertrey Ink)
Cardstock: Dark Chocolate, Vintage Cream (Papertrey Ink); Classic Crest Solar White (Neenah)

Viva La Verve... Christmas Blessings

Good morning! It's been way too long since I've played along with one of Amber's Viva La Verve sketches, so I decided to play along with VLVNov01. The "twist" was a tough one -- a twist of 1, 2, 3 ... 1 - the number of embellishments you may use (I chose gold star brads), 2 - the number of cardstock colors you must have plus a neutral (ripe avocado, pure poppy and neutral of white), and 3 - the number of stamps you must use (Blessed Christmas, O Christmas Tree and Star of Wonder).

Oops.. I made a little boo boo -- I just realized that I took the challenge to mean 3 stamp sets instead of 3 stamps, and I ended up using 4 stamps...

I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Supplies ~
Stamps: Blessed Christmas, O Christmas Tree, and Star of Wonder (Verve)
Cardstock: Ripe Avocado, Pure Poppy (Papertrey Ink), Classic Crest Solar White (Neenah)
Ink: Ripe Avocado (Papertrey Ink), Versafine Onyx Black (Tsukineko)
Accessories: Circle and Scalloped Circle Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Gold star brads, Foam tape.

JUGS Holiday Photo Card

Good morning! I was recently browsing one of the scrapbook magazines and came across an article on making simple, easily mass-produced cards for Christmas. One in particular stuck out in my mind. They had used a photo as the center image and made it look like a big postage stamp. I wanted to do something similar, and the timing coincided with Kristin's challenge, JUGS5, which is to create a holiday card showcasing a photo. I also combined this with the CPS140 sketch.

I used a few layers on my card, added some stitching and mounted my photo with foam tape, but otherwise I kept the card fairly simple. I used a recent favorite photo of Sabrina, which I first cropped to wallet size in Photoshop, then I converted it to black and white and added the year. Next, I created a blank 4x6 document and dragged the photo onto it twice so that I could print 2 photos on a 4x6 sheet of photo paper. I think I may end up making a few more of these with her Christmas photo.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

TSC Wednesday... Lockhart Harvest Window

Good morning! I've been browsing through my recent posts and realize that I've been heavy on the Christmas cards. It will probably continue like that for awhile since I still have a lot of cards that I'm needing to make. Today is an exception, though! It is TSC {The Scrapbooking Cottage} Wednesday, and Stacy and I are featuring Lockhart Harvest Window. Be sure to visit Stacy's blog for more inspiration and to see what the weekly special is!

I used the Mojo Monday sketch #111 and colored my image with Prismacolor pencils and odorless mineral spirits. I kept my patterned paper subtle and my embellishments to a minimum since I wanted the image to be the main focus.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

I've been admiring Sarah Kay stamps for awhile and this is my first card made with one of her sweet images, Noel Charity. I used the Taylored Expressions Sketch, TESC89. I wanted to add some stitching around my panels, but I decided to quit for now and call it a day in my stamping room...

I hope you have a wonderful day! Thanks so much for stopping by!
