MTME July Release Day!!!

This is post 2 of 2. For my Play Date Cafe post, please scroll down or click HERE! Please note that the PDCC site has had a facelift, some fresh colors AND new badges. You can check it all out here!

Hello! Today is the My Time Made Easy © July release day! All the products that the team has been peeking are now available in the store HERE!! The entire team is showing cards today! Lauren released a couple of fun card cut files, and she asked us to showcase them. One is the Gardening Apron © Pretty Pieces cut file, which can be used as a card or tag. The second, which I am showing you, is called the Simple Seedling © Pretty Pieces cut file.

Wouldn't this make a fun, quick gift for a friend? Or you could even whip up several for shower favors! The cut file folds up to create this fun envelope that fits a seed packet perfectly. I have included a packet of heirloom seeds to grow flowers to attract hummingbirds and butterflies. Below you can see the scallop flap of the envelope.

I cut my envelope out of Couture Oat cardstock and decorated the front with a sheet of patterned paper from Webster's Pages matted onto Lily Pond cardstock. For my image, I used a flower from Tending the Garden ©. I stamped it and colored with Copic markers. I stamped a second flower and popped it on to of the base for some added dimension. "Seeds of Kindness" is also included in the same stamp set (for a total of 50 images/sentiments!). Here's a detail shot:

After a few quick folds, I used some red line tape to make my envelope. Also included with the envelope cut file is a tag that fits inside and the smaller rectangle in case you want to add it to the tag like I did below. I added a grommet and tied some simple twine through the top of the tag.

I added a strip of the same patterned paper (that I used to decorate the front of the envelope) to the bottom of the rectangle, some quick stitching and the sentiment, "For your kindness". I left the rest blank so that I can write a little note before I give this little gift away.

Please be sure to visit the rest of the MTME team today as they are also showing off some of their card creations... you definitely won't want to miss any of it!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

You Put a Song in My Heart -- PDCC36

This is Post 1 of 2 today. For my My Time Made Easy © post, please scroll up!

Before I get to the inspiration photo/challenge colors for this week, I'd like to invite you to visit The Play Date Cafe to see its facelift.. it is fresh and fun! A HUGE thank you to Mr. Paul B for designing some fabulous new badges for our site (be sure to check out the side bar of the PDCC blog to see all of them!). Paul has been a loyal PDCC player since the beginning of the challenge, and he is so incredibly talented! Another THANK YOU to my fellow DT member, Lisa, for her hard work making all of these new badges easily accessible to all PDCC players and fans!

It's time for another Play Date Cafe challenge, and Julie has put together the fabulous inspiration photos (above) and the colors Pink, White and Red this week. Some of the girls have challenged each other to use their Tim Holtz bird cage die. I don't own it, but I did manage to include a little birdie creation!

Please welcome back our fabulous guest designer/sponsor, Kelly Marie Alvarez, with Lawn Fawn!

Your challenge host this week is Savannah!

It wasn't a requirement for the team (or for you) to make a bird-themed card, but as I was trying to decide what stamps to use, I spotted this Lockhart In the Window - Bluebird stamp that I had gotten from Stacy not too long ago. I thought it would be fun to make for my challenge card. I stamped my image with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored it with Copic markers. The sentiment, "You put a song in my heart" is from Verve's Swan Song.

Are you ready to play along? We'd love to see your creations! Be sure to go over to the Cafe and link your post. If you use an online gallery, please use the keyword PDCC36. And, be sure to visit my PDCC teammates for some wonderful inspiration.

MTME Sneak Peek Day 2 - Wonderful Watering Can!

Today is the second and final day of sneak peeks for the July My Time Made Easy © release! Lauren, Lesa, Pam and I are peeking the Wonderful Watering Can © template and Tending the Garden © stamp set. Dawn and Geny are showing off their fabulous card creations using Tending the Garden ©!

When I think of watering cans, I think of rusty old vintage cans full of flowers! So that's exactly what I set out to create! I started by using my Cricut Expression and SCAL software to cut my watering can pieces out of Couture Gumshoe cardstock. Before I assembled it, I scuffed up the edges with an edge distresser and sponged some white ink over portions of it to give it that aged look (like it had sat outside for awhile).

I tied some dyed seam binding ribbon around the can. Next, I used the Tending the Garden © stamp set (which is packed full of 50 images/sentiments) to create a tag for the watering can. I first stamped the tag in Broken China distress ink. Next I stamped the Emerson quote which reads "The earth laughs in flowers". Finally I stamped the flowers, colored them with Copic markers and added a little Star Dust Stickles to each. I matted the tag onto a piece of Brandenburg cardstock and added some zigzag stitching around. Here's a detail shot:

I added a piece of floral foam to the bottom of the can before I assembled it so that I could arrange my flowers inside of it. To make my wild roses, I used the Rambling Rose © cut file to create all of the layers (cut from Couture Santa's Beard).

Note: I'd love to show you how easy these are to make; however, Lauren and Pam have both previously posted tutorials on how to make these roses, so I will refer you to their tutorials. Here's a link to Lauren's video tutorial, and here is Pam's photo tutorial.

The only thing I did differently is that instead of inking the petals, I used various shades of Glimmer Mist to add color to my petals. I finished off the middle of each rose with a tiny Prima rose to make my flowers even more full. I used some floral wire and tape to attach each of the roses to a "stem", then I assembled my bouquet by poking the stems into the floral foam. Here's a closer look at the roses:

Finally, here's a closer look at the card that I made to go along with it. For my background paper, I used Sara's Bangin' Burlap (this will be released tomorrow along with many, many more digi papers). The sentiment, Just for You, is also from Tending the Garden ©. I saved one rose for my card and added it over a doily so it would be the main focus of my card.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I will be back tomorrow (along with the rest of the team) for our big July release!

JustRite Monogram Cards

Good morning! I hope you all had a great weekend! We had a nice relaxing one... unfortunately, I got very little stamping done, but we did have some family pool time. The pool water is nearly 90 degrees, which doesn't sound very refreshing, but it is compared to the well over 100 degree temps outside!

I have a couple of monogram cards that I made for the 2010 JustRite Idea Book a little while ago that I haven't showed you yet. Have you ordered your catalog yet? It is full of some great samples and even some sneak peeks of new stamps that will be released in the next couple of months!

I made a set of these cards for my niece, Evie, who is getting married in a few months. I gave these to her as part of her bridal shower gift, in preparation for her new name change. I have 2 to show you today. I used some Girl's Paperie patterned papers for both of these. I used the same layout for these, but I changed up things to make them a little different from one another.

For both cards, I used the JustRite Deluxe Monogram Kit (JB-08340). It is a fabulous kit to add to your JustRite collection, or if you are just starting out. It comes with
• 2" Round Wood Stamper
• 4 Borders
• 95pt uppercase Times New Roman font set (36 pieces)
• 50pt uppercase Times New Roman font set (92 pieces)
• 15pt uppercase Times New Roman font set (264 pieces)

I used 2 of the borders and the 50 pt and 95 pt font for my monogram.

Thanks so much for stopping by! My Time Made Easy Day 1 Sneak Peeks start at midnight tonight.. you will not want to miss any of it! Lauren, Dawn, Geny, Katie, Silke, and Tracey will all be posting projects... I will be back for Day 2!

JustRite Friday Challenge -- Red, White & Blue!

Good morning and Happy Friday! Today I have a project for the JustRite Friday Challenge (JRC_024)! Sharon has provided a wonderful sketch as well as the challenge to use Red, White and Blue in honor of Independence Day. Please be sure to visit the JustRite Inspiration blog for all the challenge details.

One of the things I love most about JustRite Stampers is the ability to create my own custom sayings, whether it is a greeting or quote. Today I used the JustRite Times New Roman Uppercase Font (JB-08060) in 25 pt to stamp this fabulous quote, "My patriotic heart beats red, white & blue" (by Unknown). Since I knew that I wanted to cut this out in an oval shape, I spelled it all out on the Wood Stamper Oval 2 -1/4" x 3-1/16“ (JB-08119), stamped and cut out with a Spellbinders Oval die.

I used some coordinating patterned papers from Basic Grey's Oliver 6x6 pad (stripe, polka dot and solids). I used my Cuttlebug Stars embossing folder to emboss the stars on the white panel. I added 3 of my own crochet stars to the left side and adhered a red, white and navy blue Candy Dot to the center of each star (for the red one, I colored it with my R89 Copic marker so that it would be a better match for my dark red).

Note: The stars are the same as the one I made for my Dad's Day card. Click HERE for the crochet pattern I used (it's the first one listed in the feedback section).

For more JustRite inspiration, please visit the JustRite Inspiration blog. You have until next Thursday, July 1 @ 9 AM CST to make your project and link it on the blog. I can't wait to see your creations!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful weekend!

One Person -- PDCC35

Hello! It's time for another Play Date Cafe challenge! Sarah has chosen the fabulous rustic inspiration photo (above) and the colors Brown, Turquoise, Red and Orange this week.

Please welcome our celebrity guest designer, Lucy Abrams!

Your challenge host this week is Sue!

I used some coordinating papers from the Cosmo Cricket Nutmeg line for my card this week. I embossed my quote with chocolate embossing powder to make it stand out more. It is from Verve's One Person.. it reads, "To the world you may be just one person, But to one person, you may be the world". I cut it out with circle Nestabilities and matted on top another circle, then I put the entire quote panel on top a doily that I got from Sarah Martina Parker's Etsy shop here (thanks, Sarah!). I had been looking for some doilies, but after driving around town and finding none, I gave up and searched online. She was so fast with shipping and they are exactly what I was looking for! The doily was white, but I inked it up with some Walnut Stain distress ink.

Are you ready to play along? We'd love to see your creations! Be sure to go over to the Cafe and link your post. If you use an online gallery, please use the keyword PDCC35. And, be sure to visit my PDCC teammates for some wonderful inspiration.

TE June Blast from the Past Blog Hop!!

Hello friends! I'm excited to be playing along in the Taylored Expressions June Blast from the Past Customer Blog Hop! If you just stopped here by chance and would like to start from the beginning, hop on over to Taylor's blog for the official start of the hop. For a complete list of participants, please see the hop list at the end of my post. I elected to use the inspiration colors from this fun photo (below) that Taylor provided.

For our creations, we could use any Taylored Expressions set(s) released through March 2010. It was hard to narrow it down, but I ended up using one of the many fun images from Crafty Cuppie. The sentiment is from For the Love of Cupcakes. I made this birthday card for Mona, who is celebrating her birthday very soon! Happy, Happy Birthday, my sweet friend!!

I paired some patterned papers from Cosmo Cricket Early Bird together for my card layers. I colored the fun image of Cuppie and her stamping supplies with Copic markers and paper-pieced her apron. I also sponged the layers with Antique Linen distress ink. All layers are attached with foam tape for added dimension.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Happy Hopping!

Happy Dad's Day!

Happy Father's Day (or in the case of this card, Happy Dad's Day) to my dad and to my hubby.. and to all the Dad's out there! I hope you all have a fabulous day! I just love this Proverb - “Any man can be a father, but it takes a special person to be a dad”. A few days ago I showed you the card that I made for my dad. Today I'm showing you the card that I made Sabrina to give to her daddy.

I decided to play along in a couple of challenges as well. The first is Verve's Ready Set Stamp Challenge to use the set, Seeing Stars. Before I got started, I looked around for some sketch inspiration and decided to use FTL95 from the Clean & Simple blog. I had to laugh, though, because my card really isn't all that clean and simple!

There are 3 different sizes of stars in the set and a couple of fun patterns, but I decided to use the plain open stars. I started by randomly stamping them, then I paper-pieced them with some fun My Mind's Eye So Sophie coordinating paper. It took a little bit of time, but I love the fun background paper. The sentiment is from the Dad's Day set.

I added a little punched star border and for my focal embellishment, I used one of the stars from the set and thought it would be fun to layer something on top of it. So, I took a break from making my card and searched in my stash. I didn't find anything that I liked, so I looked online for a crochet star pattern and found this one (I used the one posted by Cricketnc in the Feedback section). It took just a few minutes to make the star, then I topped it with a button.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Supplies ~
Stamps: Seeing Stars, Dad's Day (Verve)

Ink: Versafine Onyx Black (Tsukineko)
Accessories: Stars border punch (Martha Stewart), Buttons (Papertrey Ink), Twine (May Arts), Handmade crochet star using crochet cotton (DMC), Ric Rac twill ribbon, Foam tape, Thread, Sewing machine.

JustRite Friday Challenge -- Book Mark It!

Good morning and Happy Friday! Today I have a project for the JustRite Friday Challenge (JRC_023), Book Mark It! My daughter, Sabrina, has just started reading, and since DH and I are avid readers (when we can find the time), we want to encourage her to read as much as possible. It's always more fun to read when you have a pretty bookmark, right?! I used this SCS tutorial to make a Bookmark card for her.

I started by making my own patterned paper by randomly stamping the large daisy from JustRite My Garden Borders & Centers (JB-09705). Sabrina loves pink, so this is my attempt at coloring pink shaded gerbera daisies. I didn't want to cover up all of the daisies, so I added my sentiment to the top (a Mish tent topper card). The sentiment "Follow Your Dreams" is part of the new JustRite release, All Occasion Nested Sentiments & Verse (JB-09210) and the Clear Horizontal Stamper (JB-09520). I just love the new stamper -- it makes stamping so much easier (you can get a better idea of where you are stamping without needing a stamp positioner AND it's very comfortable to use)!

Here's a look at the inside of the card. The bookmark detaches. The tutorial uses the Xyron Creatopia to create a perforated edge. You could also use a perforated blade if your paper trimmer has one. I couldn't find mine, so I scored the edge and added a line of piercing over the fold to create my "perforated" edge. I kept the bookmark simple by embossing the white background with the Cuttlebug Typeset embossing folder. I purposely positioned it so that the "S" (for Sabrina) would subtley appear at the top. I cut out one of the daisies that I colored and added it with dimensionals. A little dyed seam binding ribbon, pearls and stitching finish off the project.

For more Book Mark It inspiration, please visit the JustRite Inspiration blog. You have until next Thursday, June 24 @ 9 AM CST to make your project and link it on the blog. I can't wait to see your creations!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful weekend!

A JustRite Father's Day -- PDCC34

Hello friends! Well, it's been a week since my last post. I hope you are all doing well! We are back from vacation, and I am slowly starting to get back into the "routine". It's time for another Play Date Cafe challenge, and it's color splash time! Julie has chosen the colors Black and White with a splash of Blue this week.

Our celebrity guest designer/sponsor is Mandy Cheshire with Limelight Papercrafts!

She is generously offering 2 bottles of Shimmerz Vibez Spritz (Hot Fudge and Razzle Dazzle Berry) as a prize!

Your challenge host this week is Lisa!

It is a rare day for me to make a masculine card, but I needed a card for my dad for Father's Day, and the colors worked out well for this purpose. My image is from JustRite By the Sea Borders & Centers Oval. I stamped and colored it with Copic markers, then I cut it out with a Spellbinders Circle Nestability die. I stamped the custom sentiment using the Times New Roman Uppercase Font in 25 pt. then cut it out as a circular frame and popped it over the image. I added a little grosgrain ric rac, some twine, button and stitching (no frills here).

Are you ready to play along? We'd love to see your creations! Be sure to go over to the Cafe and link your post. If you use an online gallery, please use the keyword PDCC34. And, be sure to visit my PDCC teammates for some wonderful inspiration.

Just a Note -- PDCC33

Hello! It's time for another Play Date Cafe challenge. Mona has chosen the gorgeous inspiration photo (from BeddingEnvy.com) above and the colors Raspberry, Aqua, Kraft and White this week.

Our celebrity guest designer/sponsor is Courtney Baker with Practicing Creativity Stamps!

I was long overdue to give my Verve stamps some love, so I pulled out Happy Days and randomly stamped the hibiscus on kraft cardstock to create my background paper. Next, I used detail white embossing powder and heat embossed one hibiscus for my main image. I colored the flower with Copic markers, and I also embossed my sentiment - "Just a Note" (from Accent Notes).

Are you ready to play along? We'd love to see your creations! Be sure to go over to the Cafe and link your post. If you use an online gallery, please use the keyword PDCC33. And, be sure to visit my PDCC teammates for some wonderful inspiration.

MTME Final June Group Post

Hello! Have you checked out all of the My Time Made Easy © June releases? Lauren outdid herself once again this month with all the fabulous new goodies and our team has been showing off some wonderful projects to give you some creative inspiration. Today, our entire team is showing our final release projects!

For my first project, I am using the Tea Tabbed Box © template. It comes with 2 different fronts, one with a cut out for tea bags (or other goodies) and one with a solid front.

I made this with the solid front, to show the versatility of this template. I filled my box with some Yummy Earth organic lollipops (see below for a look at the inside)! The base of the box is made from Couture Apple Jack cardstock. The patterned paper is from the DCWV Sweet paper stack.

For the tag, I stamped one of the frames from Killer Curves: Fancy Frames ©. The sentiment "A special treat for you to eat" is from Lunch Box Love Notes ©. Here's a close-up:

I decorated the top with a flower that I made out of chiffon and organdy fabric. I cut out the layers of fabric with Spellbinders Blossom Nestabilities, then I carefully burned the edges of the flower from a flame of a lit candle. I staggered the layers together, secured them with a small brad and added a few fresh water pearls in the center to cover the brad. Finally, I sprayed the flower with various colors of Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist. The leaves are from a green Prima flower which I cut up.

My second project (below) turned into a bigger project than I had intended. I first made the Tea Tabbed Box © to hold some tea bags, then I decided to go a step further and make another teapot with the Tea For You © template and a Time for Tea Bag © to go with the ensemble.

For once, I made this for myself! I thought this would look so cute sitting out on my counter. Everything is cut out of Couture Sprinkle cardstock and decorated with a patterned paper from DCWV Nana's Kitchen stack. This one has the front cut out for the tea bags (in my case, some of my favorite Good Earth Sweet & Spicy Red Tea).

I decorated the top of the box with a cut out of the tea cup from A Spot of Tea ©. I sprinkled some gold embossing powder and heat embossed it to look like an elegant piece of china. I also added a few of the tea cup building elements to decorate the cup.

Here's a look at the matching tea pot. I loved Pam's idea of filling it with "get well" goodies and I thought this is a great place to store some throat lozenges that I seem to constantly be in need of.

I used the rectangle label from the same tea stamp set to make a matching label:

The final item in the ensemble uses the Time for Tea Bag © to create a small holder for a couple of tea bags. This would make cute little favors for a tea themed bridal or baby shower. I used the round tag to create a simple tag to finish off the tea holder.

Please be sure to visit the rest of the MTME team today as they are also showing off their final creations... you definitely won't want to miss any of it!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

MTME Tea For You Gift Set

Hello! Today is my day to share one of my favorite projects from the June My Time Made Easy © release! I used the Tea For You © template to create a special gift for a tea loving friend! Be sure to visit Lauren today, too.. I know she has a project that you won't want to miss!

When I first saw Lauren's 3-D tea pot, I was both amazed and intimidated! After cutting out all of the pieces for the Tea For You © template, I was pleasantly surprised at how easily it all came together. This is the perfect gift for any tea loving friend (or even yourself!), and it combines so well the Tea Tabbed © box, A Spot of Tea © stamp set, cut files and digital papers. I made today's project for a friend of mine, but I was so inspired that I made a complete tea set for myself (I'll share that on our final group post day)! Isn't that the cutest paper crafted tea pot you've ever seen? According to Lauren, you can fit 40 tea bags inside.. wow! But it doesn't stop there.. you can put all kinds of things inside of it -- cookies, candies, packets of sweetener for your tea, just to name a few... I'm not a big hot tea drinker, but I do love iced tea.

For my teapot, I used my Cricut Expression and the SCAL software to cut out my tea pot parts out of Santa's Beard cardstock (from Couture). The designer paper was designed by Sara Williams and is part of the Tea Parlor Fortune Teller's Fallen Leaf collection. I was a bit intimidated by this project when I first saw it, but I took my time, followed the instructions and it went together pretty quickly.

Above is a close-up of the tag. I used A Spot of Tea © stamp set (concepts by Catherine Doucette, designed by Lauren). I used A Spot of Tea © cut file to cut out my tag, then I only had to stamp tag outline on it (no hand cutting!). I colored the flower with Copic markers and stamped "A Spot of Tea".

I made a flower to decorate the teapot lid. I used a couple more of Sara's digi papers. First I printed the elegant swirly paper (part of the same collection as the paper used on the tea pot above), then on the backside I printed the plaid (part of the Vintage Plaid - Red Hues with Sugar collection) to create my own double-sided designer paper. I used this tutorial to create the flower. Here's a close-up of the flower:

Finally, here's a close-up the accompanying card... I stamped the tea cup and the decorative middle, then I paper-pieced it and added some stitching.. easy peasy!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
