Happy New Year!

Hello friends! I'd like to wish you all a very Happy New Year!

I decided to go for a slightly different take on a new year card by combining a couple of JustRite stamp sets. See that sweet little elephant? He is from the newly released JustRite cling set, Ellie Time, illustrated by children's book author and illustrator, Elizabeth O. Dulemba! I colored him with Copic markers, paper pieced his vest then I cut him out. He is popped up on a Labels One Nestability layer. He comes with an assortment of sweet images and sentiments (please see below for a look at the complete set), but I chose to pair him with another set to make a Happy New Year balloon for him to carry. I used one of the centers from Merry Little Christmas. I added a little Divine Twine as string for the balloon and wrapped the ends around his trunk.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Supplies ~
JustRite Stampers: CL-02005 Ellie Time Cling, JB-08780 Merry Little Christmas, JB-09500 1 5/8" Clear Stamper

Rare Blessing

Hello! Happy New Years Eve Eve! I hope you are all having a great week! I am a little under the weather, so I am going to keep this short and sweet..

I used the JustRite cling set, CL-02030 Simple Blessings for my friendship card today. I stamped the lovely frame with Memento Rich Cocoa, colored with a few Copic markers and added the sentiment "A True Friend is a Rare Blessing" to the center. I kept my layout fairly simple, adding some stitching, lace and a line of pearls.

Here's a complete look at the set that I used:

Mercy's Final Tuesday Sketch Challenge

Hello! I hope you all are enjoying the holiday season! I'm here with my card for Mercy's final Tuesday Sketch Challenge, MTSC106. Not only is it my final post as her December guest muse, but it is also her final sketch.. Thank you, Mercy, for the honor and for sharing your wonderful sketches with us all.. I wish you all the best!

My sample uses JustRite's Quiet Moments cling set, designed by children's book author and illustrator, Elizabeth O. Dulemba. I just love this sweet little scene and chose to make it a mother / daughter moment with my little Sabrina. I am happy to say that she has another week of winter vacation, and I plan to make the most of our time together. The sentiment "Forever Friends" is from the same set and cut out using the custom Nested Frames set (JustRite co-branded with Spellbinders).

Christmas Memories

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! We spent a nice quiet Christmas with our small family of three..

I've been keeping notes the last 25 days to make my December Daily album. I am amazed how Ali and so many others not only put together the album in advance, but also keep up with this each day.. me? I'm just happy that I managed to document the stories, take photos and collect items for my album. I've wanted to do this for the past few years and never did. I am looking forward to hopefully working on it this upcoming week!

This is Sabrina on Christmas Eve, sitting with our giant Snoopy (notice I say "our")... he was mine until she was born and then she kind of decided that he is hers... oh well, it is nice to share, right?!

And, as I was backing up photos today, I ran across this her first photo with him, 7 years ago... Snoopy hasn't changed at all (he is actually still clean, too!), but Sabrina sure has...

Thanks so much for stopping by! I'll be back with Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge sample on Monday night / Tuesday morning.

Friends

Hello! Merry Christmas Eve Eve to you all! I just wanted to pop in to post a card that I made today and to wish you all Happy Holidays!

Like most everyone else, I've been busy getting ready for Christmas.. it's also been a time of reflection for me. In 2010, along with the good, there has been some bad. I lost 2 friends at the beginning of the year, and another just a few weeks ago. It's made me especially thankful for my friends, family and health. With being busy preparing for the holidays and having other things going on, I have not only had a lot of crafting time, but I also haven't been much in the crafting mood.. I am slowly getting back in the mood, though.. :)

I was inspired to make this friend card using this lovely sentiment from JB-09220 Friendship Nested Sentiments & Verse. I paired it with some paper from Parisian Anthology (Pink Paislee) and some Maya Road lace. My sentiment and corner embellishments were cut out using JB-08955 Nested Sentiments Dies, one of two newly released Spellbinders custom die set designed to perfectly fit all JustRite Nested Sentiments & Verse stamps!

I want to thank you all for stopping by and wish you the happiest of holiday seasons and many blessings in the new year!

Supplies ~
JustRite Stampers: JB-09220 Friendship Nested Sentiments & Verse, JB-09520 Clear Horizontal Stamper
Dies & Punches: JB-08955 Nested Sentiments Dies (Spellbinders co-branded)
Paper: Parisian Anthology (Pink Paislee), Classic Crest Solar White (Neenah)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)

Sparkle Creations Sponsoring Flashback Friday

Hello there! I haven't been around much this week, which is unusual for me. It's just been a hectic last couple of weeks with lots going on around here. I suspect the next couple of weeks will be busy, too, but I am hoping for more time in my craft room (I haven't made a card in over a week.. yikes!).

Sparkle Creations is sponsoring Amy's Flashback Friday Challenge 6.0. A random winner will win a Sparkle Creations stamp to be released in January! This month's challenge is to post the first card you blogged about that featured an unexpected find from your home. You have until January 7, 2011 to play along with this challenge.

I only started blogging about 2 years ago, but 4 years ago, I made some gingerbread playdough for Sabrina to give to her classmates (she was in preschool back then). I saw the idea in a magazine (sorry, don't remember which one) and had purchased some gingerbread cookie cutters awhile back (for another idea). So, for this project, I dug out the cookie cutters, made some playdough and made this little gift packages.

Here's the playdough recipe that I used (from the web):

Gingerbread Playdough

1 c flour
1/2 c salt
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 c water
1 tsp vegetable oil
Lots of cinnamon, allspice, ginger, nutmeg (whatever you have)

Mix the dry ingredients together. Play with spices until you get the desired scent and color. Mix water and oil together first, THEN add them to the dry ingredients and stir. In a pot, cook the mixture for a few minutes over medium heat, stirring frequently. The dough will start to pull away from the sides and bottom of the pan and clump together. Take the dough out of the pan and knead it until it becomes soft and smooth. Allow to cool and store in an airtight container.

I hope you have a great weekend.. Thanks so much for stopping by!

SCRSC23 meets MTSC104

Hello! I'm here with my card for Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps Challenge #23 and Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge, MTSC104. If you recall last week, I made a boo boo and ended up having to make 2 separate cards.. well, I almost did it again this week, but luckily the SCRSC23 challenge is to use stitching and I did that automatically.. phew!

Thanks to all of you who played along in the SCRS challenge last week! This week will be the final challenge for 2010. Sparkle is giving her designers and fans the rest of the year off from challenges.. We will be back on January 4 with an all new challenge at this time (9 PM PST on Mondays). Sparkle is sponsoring a few challenges this month, so be sure to keep visiting the SCRS blog. As I mentioned above, this week's challenge is to use stitching (faux or real).

And here is Mercy's fabulous sketch, MTSC104:

I am still working on Christmas cards.. I think I have enough for this year, but I'm still making them since they are one of my favorite types of cards to make. I used Sledding Chloe today. I die cut only a portion of the image.. doesn't it look like she and her reindeer are having a great time?

For more SCRS inspiration and details, please visit the SCRS blog to see the design team's wonderful creations and their individual blogs for more details. I'd like to say a big thank you to Suzanne Czosek for her wonderful creations and for being such a fabulous Guest Designer! Be sure to keep visiting her.. I think she just might have more Sparkle Creations to show you this month.

SCRS December Release - Introducing Valentine Oliver

Hello and Welcome to the final day of previews and the November release for Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps! Sparkle is releasing 2 new images -- they are available in the store now.. Today we are previewing Valentine Oliver!

Isn't Valentine Oliver the sweetest?! He has candy AND flowers for his Valentine! I paired him with some Basic Grey Bittersweet patterned paper. My bingo card was created by Sharon Harnist.. she generously has them available as a free download here. I printed the card, then I stamped the "LOVE" and colored in the "free" star. After coloring Oliver, I cut him out with a long rectangle nestability die, but it didn't look quite right on my layout, so I ended up doing some fussy cutting and popping him on top of the bingo card.

Be sure to visit her and the rest of the SCRS designers for more peeks of Valentine Oliver. Sparkle will be giving away a Valentine Oliver to one lucky person! For a chance to win, you need to comment on all of the designer's blogs (list below). Then head on over to the SCRS blog and comment on the Oliver post. You have until midnight EST each day to comment. The lucky winner will be announced the following day!

Verve "Triple Play" Project Parade

Hello.. I hope you're all having a good week! I've been making some tags to package up some Christmas goodies and thought I'd pop in and share them with you. I made a trio of projects, which is what the Verve Project Parade is for this month... "Triple Play" is the theme to be exact. One lucky participant will win the January release and be Guest Diva for the month.. so fun! I'm not eligible to win, but I thought I'd play along anyway.

I used the Sweet Scallop Tag (stamp) and Sweet Scallop Die to create a small tag which I then popped onto a larger tag. I added some stitching, then I added my tag to Avery shipping tags to create a larger and stronger tag. All patterned paper is from K & Company's Yuletide collection. Here's a close-up of each tag:

For my first tag, I stamped and colored the poinsettia from Merry Wishes. "Joyeux Noel", "To: From:" (and the sentiments used on all tags are from Glad Tidings).

For my second tag, I clear embossed the middle snowflake from Glad Tidings on the Sweet Scallop tag.

For my final tag, I stamped the largest solid berry sprig from Merry Wishes and added Diamond Stickles to it for some sparkle.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Supplies ~
Stamps: Glad Tidings, Merry Wishes, Sweet Scallop Tag (Verve)
Paper: Yuletide (K & Company)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Versamark Watermark (Tsukineko)

SCRSC22, MTSC103 and Mercy's Guest Muse

Hello! Today I am excited to share some news I've been holding in for over a year now! I am a big fan of Mercy's work and her fabulous Tuesday Sketch Challenge, so I am very honored to be her December Guest Muse! Mercy's challenge goes live the same time that Sparkle's weekly challenges go live, so I was relieved when they both graciously agreed to let me combine the challenges! So, that was my plan this week, but I got so engrossed in the sketch when making my first card that I completely forgot that the SCRS challenge was a color challenge.. big oops.. and I was the one who picked the colors.. bigger OOPS! I am still combining the posts and just showing you both cards.. : )

Thanks to all of you who played along in the SCRS challenge last week! Each week we will post an all new challenge at this time (9 PM PST on Mondays). For all the details, please visit the SCRS blog. This week, we welcome our wonderful December Guest Designer, Suzanne Czosek! As I mentioned above, this week's challenge is a color challenge... Red, White and Black.

And here is Mercy's fabulous sketch, MTSC103:

Below is the first card that I created with Mercy's sketch.. using Street Corner Josh. I went with the plaid theme to go along with his shirt, combining some patterned papers from Pink Paislee Old School and the PTI Picnic Plaid Impression Plate.

Since I failed to use the correct colors for the SCRS color challenge, I made another card using Holiday Emily (below). I loved Mercy's sketch so much that I used it again! This time I paired Emily with some Basic Grey Jovial papers, colored, cut her out and popped her on top of my layout.

Hello! I hope you are enjoying your weekend.. I am popping in here for a quick post. I am still in need of a few Christmas cards and for this one, I tried to keep it simple and mail-friendly.. I used this week's Mojo Monday #167 for my layout.

Each year I try to make Christmas cards for my mom and dad to send out to family and friends. This year I managed to squeeze in some time to make some personalized ones for them. They need about 40 cards and I'm not a big fan of mass production, though in the interest of time, I came up with a simple design, used some different patterned papers and made 4 different varieties.

To make the custom label, I used some of my favorite JustRite Stampers. I started by stamping Merry Christmas (from JustRite Stampers Celebrations Demi Phrases) - the entire phrase read "Wishing You a Merry Christmas". I then wrote out my parents' names (Ben and Terrie) using the Times Roman 15 pt Font Set. For the center images, I used Holiday Cheer Borders & Centers. In the card above, I stamped the holly and leaves and colored with Copic markers and a couple of Spica glitter pens. In the card below, I simply embossed the snowflake with white embossing powder and added a crystal twinkle in the center.

All patterned papers are from Making Memories, Tinsel. I also used a few different embossing folders and colors of Divine Twine.

Here's the entire hop list.. Happy Hopping!

Let's Think Christmas.. with Riley

Hello December! Sorry I've been MIA this week.. I've been busy catching up from Thanksgiving and preparing for Christmas. I'm also trying to put together my December Daily album.. wish me luck!

It's been awhile since I've played with a Riley image.. or bought one for that matter. I still love Riley, but he's been rather neglected in my household.. until now that is. After seeing the new holiday Rileys, I finally gave in and bought them. Today I'm using Ornaments Riley and my card is for the Riley and Company "Let's Think Christmas" challenge, hosted by Frances. I also used Mercy's Tuesday Sketch #102 for my layout. After coloring Riley, I added a rhinestone star and some frosted pearls from Pizzazz Aplenty.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I'll be back tomorrow for the Scrap-Mart Holiday Hop!

Stamps: Ornaments Riley (Riley and Company)
Paper: Everybody Loves Christmas (Echo Park), Classic Crest Classic Natural White (Neenah), New Leaf (Papertrey Ink)
