CR84FN26 -- Celebrate Today & Every Day

Hello! It's time for another CR84FN Challenge! Thank you to all who joined us last week.. it was fun viewing all of your fabulous creations! For this week's challenge (CR84FN26), our color palette is Kraft, Pale Yellow and Gold. The lovely photos in the graphic above are courtesy of Martha Stewart.

This is our first challenge of May, so please welcome our new Guest Designer, Lin Brandyberry!

One of Sabrina's para aides (Elisa) has a birthday on Monday, so I made this for her.. she always goes the extra mile with Sabrina, so I thought I'd make her a "happy" card to let her know how much we appreciate her.. I used PTI's A Year of Flowers: Daffodils.. I random stamped the smaller daffodil on the Kraft cardstock base and clear embossed them. I stamped it a few more times on some pale yellow vellum and embossed in silver pearl. I cut the daffodil out and added a little of the gold color with a few Copic markers. My lace trim was tatted by my SIL, Mary.

For all the challenge details, please be sure to visit the CR84FN blog HERE. I hope you will join us this week.. I can't wait to see what you create! For more inspiration, please visit my fellow design teammates:

Teacher Appreciation Gift

Hello! As promised, I am back with a Teacher Appreciation gift using the April Taylored Expressions Key Ingredients kit.

I need several gifts for Sabrina's teachers and para aides for next week. They all have been a tremendous help all year, and especially lately as she has finally gone back to school since having her toes operated on last Monday. I decided to treat them to a Starbuck's gift card as they all seem to like their caffeine fix! I started with a plain small hinged tin and decorated the inside and outside with supplies from the Taylored Expressions April Key Ingredients Kit (paper, ribbon, rose, pearls).

Here's a side view:

If you are a fan of giving gift cards like I am, then this is a super easy way to add a handmade touch to your gift. I used the Gift Card Frame Die to cut out my patterned paper for the top and insides.. it's a perfect fit!

Here's a peek at the inside:

Edit, 5/2/11: Tomorrow is Teacher Appreciation Day, and I am finally finished! I thought I'd add a photo of all of them. I made 11 in all (the 1 prototype above and 10 to give as gifts). All supplies came from the original TE April Key Ingredients kit except the tins and red gingham ribbon (from my stash).

Mojo 188 -- Grandma

Hello! It's time for a new Mojo Monday sketch (#188).. It's round or square week.. I hope you will join us!

I really wanted to make a round card this week, but I was very limited on time, and this little square card (4.25" x 4.25") came together quicker for me. I used Verve's Love Deepens for my sentiment.. isn't that just the sweetest?! When I saw this for the first time during the new stamp peeks, it brought tears to my eyes.. combine it with Julee's wonderful font selections, this set has become one of my new go-to sets for special females in my life.. :)

This week's sketches are courtesy of Sarah:

CR84FN25 -- Because of the Brave

Hello! It's time for another CR84FN Challenge! Thank you to all who joined us last week.. it was fun viewing all of your fabulous creations! For this week's challenge (CR84FN25), our color palette is Red, Aqua and White. The lovely photos in the graphic above are courtesy of Martha Stewart.

This is our final challenge for the month of April.. a huge thank you to our wonderful guest designer, Silke Ledlow!

Again, I'd like to say a big thank you for all of your well wishes about Sabrina.. I'm still not able to get any free time to craft or visit blogs, but I hope to soon.. Here's the last card that I made before her surgery..

When I first saw the colors of this challenge, I immediately thought of some patterned paper from the Lily Bee Picket Fence collection. When I saw the stars, it also made me think of Verve's American Hero. This set was released nearly a year ago, and this is the first time I've inked it up (bad me!).. After I stamped the whimsical frame, I realized that the stars in the corner were the same size as the stars on the patterned paper, so I cut them out of the patterned paper and added them to my frame, then I added a tiny rhinestone (from Pizzazz Aplenty) in the center of each star. I went a little crazy with my distressing here, but I promise that my cardstock started out as white.. :)

For all the challenge details, please be sure to visit the CR84FN blog HERE. I hope you will join us this week.. I can't wait to see what you create! For more inspiration, please visit my fellow design teammates:

Quick Update

Hello friends! I am just popping in for a quick hello! Thank you to all for your well wishes for Sabrina! Her surgery went well on Monday.. Recovery has been tough, but she is doing much better now that we are home and settling into a routine. She is doing well and her pain level has been manageable, but she has to constantly be watched.. I've caught her several times trying to get up. It is critical that she does not bear weight, so I pretty much follow her around the house from room to room (or TV to TV as she has full control of all the remote controls..) .. oh, and I am also her personal slave. :)

I don't have anything crafty to show you, but I do have a couple of pics of Sabrina and some SCRS sale info to share..

Sparkle is having a sale this weekend in the SCRS store.

I have one more scheduled post -- my CR84FN card for Saturday night.. I am hoping to get a bit of crafty time this weekend.

I hope you all have a wonderful Friday and Happy Easter! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Taylored Expressions April Blast from the Past Blog Hop!!

Hello! I'm excited to be participating in the April Taylored Expressions Blast from the Past Blog Hop! Each month, Taylor invites her customers to participate in this fun hop and feature Taylored Expressions Stamps! The theme for our hop is CLEAN & SIMPLE. I have to confess, though, that I completely forgot that this was the theme until after I made my card, photographed it and started writing this post.. a BIG oops on my part..

If you happened here by chance, please check the full list of participants at the bottom of this post!

Aside from the fact that have added a few layers, I did at least manage to leave some white space.. :) I stamped the leaf from Friendship Blooms and used the Leafy Branch Die to cut out the leaf. I popped this on my white label. For my flowers, I made a few flowers using the Friendship Blooms Dies (the 1.3" flower with 8 points). I left the bottom layer as is, curling the petals back with a tweezer. For the top flower, I snipped a couple of petals and glued them on top of the one next to it to create a raised effect, curled the petals, then attached the to the bottom flower with a pearl brad. My sentiment is also from Friendship Blooms.

I used Sankari's fun sketch for my layout:

Thanks so much for hopping by! I can't wait to hop around myself to see everyone's creations!

Supplies ~
Stamps: Friendship Blooms (Taylored Expressions)
Paper: Dutch Mustard Soup (Jillibean Soup), Simply Chartreuse (Papertrey Ink), Classic Crest Solar White (Neenah)
Ink: Memento Rich Cocoa, Memento Pear Tart (Tsukineko)
Accessories: Friendship Blooms Dies, Leafy Branch Die (Taylored Expressions); Labels Seventeen Nestabilities, Nested Lacey Pennants (Spellbinders); Round-it-All (Zutter), Pearl Brads, Foam tape, Thread, Sewing machine.

I used Cupcake Ruby today.. I'm not usually an orange person, but I thought I'd change things up a bit and color her dress orange instead of pink.. :) I added some diamond glass glitter to my cupcake. For my handmade embellishment, I made a rose using some thick mulberry paper.

Sparkle Creations is sponsoring the Cardabilities challenge this week, so I used the sketch for my layout. Be sure to visit the site to see the challenge details and what you could win!

Mojo 187 -- Easter Blessings

Hello! It's time for a new Mojo Monday sketch (#187).. I hope you will join us!

By the time this posts, we will be getting ready to head to the children's hospital.. My DD, Sabrina, is having some surgery on her both of her big toes this morning.. :( Wish her (and us luck)! I have no idea what this week (or the coming weeks for that matter) will be like, but I do have a few posts scheduled for this week.. I will try to get around and visit blogs when we are back home and things have calmed down a bit.. As always, I appreciate your visits and sweet comments!

With Easter being so late this year (at least it seems late to me), I thought I'd try to get a few Easter cards made. I used Verve's Egg-stra Special today. I stamped the little chick in the egg, colored and paper-pieced, then I cut out the image. The chick is popped onto the Embossed Oval Die and both of those are popped on to the Classy Label Die. I colored some seam binding with a Copic marker and added some yummy twine from my last Verve order (Julee's packages are almost too pretty to open!).. I stamped my sentiment on the largest die in the Charming Oval Die Set and made it into a tag.

This week's sketch is courtesy of Maria:

CR84FN24 -- May All Your Dreams Come True

Hello! It's time for another CR84FN Challenge! Thank you to all who joined us last week.. it was fun viewing all of your fabulous creations! For this week's challenge (CR84FN24), our color palette is Light Blue, Aqua and Cream. The lovely photos in the graphic above are courtesy of Martha Stewart.

I started with a sheet of paper from The Girls' Paperie Vintage Whimsy collection, then I managed to cover up most of it.. :(  My sentiment is from Verve's Always on My Mind. I layered some scallops to the bottom of the card and added ink distressing all over. I pulled out one of my SIL, Mary's tatted cream flowers and spritzed a little Glimmer Mist on it to add a little subtle blue color to it and added a Prima rose to the center. Pearls and the pearl stick pin are from Pizzazz Aplenty.

For all the challenge details, please be sure to visit the CR84FN blog HERE. I hope you will join us this week.. I can't wait to see what you create! For more inspiration, please visit my fellow design teammates:

Hello! I have a couple of cards to show you today.. I used the first 2 Viva la Verve sketches for April. All the details are in the Verve Splitcoast forum here (for week 1) and here (for week 2).

I checked the teacher birthday list and realized that there are 6 teacher birthdays in the next 10 days, so you may see a birthday theme here for a little while :)

My first card uses Circular Sayings. I stamped my sentiment, cut it out with a circle punch and popped it over a tatted flower (made by my SIL, Mary!). I added pearls to both cards (from Pizzazz Aplenty).

My second card uses Happy Days. Both cards use a lot of the same supplies (patterned paper - The Girls' Paperie Vintage Whimsy, colors and Sizzix embossing folder).

Hello everyone! Happy Sunday! I am back with some exciting news! A little while ago, Taylor Van Bruggen invited me to join the Taylored Expressions Key Ingredients Design Team.. and today I finally get to share my news! I love her Key Ingredients kits and am absolutely honored and thrilled to be working with Taylor and the fabulous design team including Taylor, Jen TaplerJessica Diedrich, Lynn Put, Melody Rupple and Barbara Anders!

If you aren't already familiar, Taylored Expressions Key Ingredients is a monthly kit club dedicated to bringing you the latest coordinating products for papercrafting! To learn more about it and how to subscribe, please click HERE!

To celebrate my good news, I decided to use the TE March Key Ingredients and make a Cuppie card! What first drew me to Taylored Expressions was sweet, whimsical Cuppie, which is just now one of many wonderful lines in the TE stamp collection.

My Cuppie image is from the A Year of Sweets 2 set. I stamped and colored the sweet image with Copic markers. I also used the Taylored Expressions Sketch #136 for my layout (flipped):
