Sparkle Creations 1st Anniversary Throwback Challenge!!

Hello! In addition to our weekly Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps challenge, we are kicking off July with a special Anniversary Throwback Challenge! This challenge will last all month long and the winner will receive the complete August release! For all the details, please visit the SCRS blog.

Your challenge is to create a card or project using one of the original 8 images that Sparkle released one year ago. To refresh your memory, the challenge graphic has a little snippet of each character. They are Charlotte With a Rose, Cocktail Emily, Cupcake Ruby, Lantern Rin, Scooter Chloe, Surfing Oliver, Swimming Lucy and Turntable Josh.

As this is also our first official challenge for the month of July, we welcome a new Guest Designer, the fabulous Kerri Michaud! Welcome, Kerri!

Here's my card with Surfing Oliver:

I went simple with my card today. I used some patterned paper from the Echo Park Splash collection. I stamped, colored and cut out the sweet image of Oliver and popped him on top of the patterned paper. I added some waves (using the Taylored Expressions Wave Border Die) and the sentiment Life is Good (from Verve's Relax).

JustRite Original July Release -- Warmest Wishes

Hello! Welcome to Day 3 of JustRite Stampers July stamp previews! Today we are showing another Christmas set designed by Diane Arthurs, JB-09940 Warmest Wishes - Interlocking. This is another oval set, but I stamped and cut out my images instead of framing them in an oval.

I stamped and colored a couple of the sweet images, then I cut them out. They were just begging to be strung up, so that's exactly what I did with some Divine Twine. I added a little tag (sentiment is from CL-02155 Merry & Bright - Cling) and I used JB-08950 Nested Frame Dies (co-branded with Spellbinders) to die cut my tag.

Hello! Welcome to Day 2 of 9 of JustRite Stampers July stamp previews! Today we are continuing our CHA release with another Christmas set, JB-09945 Blizzard Bunch - Interlocking. This is a fun oval set designed by Diane Arthurs. The detail on these images is just amazing!

I stamped one of the snowmen directly onto a journaling card that is part of Echo Park's Wintertime collection. I colored him and added a sentiment is from CL-02160 Charming Christmas. I kept my embellishments to a minimum, just adding some ric rac, tatted lace and stitching.

JustRite Cling July Release -- Christmas Trimmings

If you are looking for my Sparkle Creations challenge post, please scroll down or click HERE.. Thank you!!

Edited to add direct links.
Hello! Welcome to Day 1 of 9 of JustRite Stampers July stamp previews! If you were with us during the June previews, you might remember that we started introducing some new Christmas sets to get you going on your holiday cards and projects. This month, we have more Christmas sets for you and today we are introducing a new Christmas cling set.. CL-02180 Christmas Trimmings - Cling.

When I first saw the Christmas swag, I thought of scallops, so I pulled out various scallop dies and was thrilled to see that it fit Spellbinders S4-241 Jumbo Scalloped Border Petites. I die cut my scallop first, then I stamped the upper and the lower scallop to create my scallop-y swag. I then colored it with Copic markers and added pearls on top of the berries. The ribbons are also part of the set.. I stamped, colored and cut them out then popped them on top with some foam tape. I wanted to keep my layout fairly simple so I wouldn't detract from the swag, so I added a strip of embossed cardstock to the top and tied off some baker's luster twine and a couple of jingle bells.

Here's a complete look at CL-02180 Christmas Trimmings - Cling:

It's time for an all new Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps Challenge! Each week we will post an all new challenge at this time (9 PM PST on Mondays). For all the details, please visit the SCRS blog. This week's challenge is to use a recycled item on your project.

This is the final challenge of June, so we'd like to thank our Guest Designer, Tanya Johnson! Thanks for all the inspiration, Tanya!

I used Cupcake Ruby on my card this week. Although it is summer vacation, I am trying to keep up with teacher birthday cards, so I am adding this one to the stash. For my recycled item, I used a piece of corrugated cardboard and die cut with Spellbinders Big Scalloped Borderabilities, then I added some craft paint to it and scuffed it up a bit.

For sketch inspiration, I used the June Sketch For You To Try:

SCRS Sponsoring Card Positioning Sketches

Hello! I hope you're having a great weekend! I made this card last week for the Card Positioning Systems challenge for this week. Sparkle Creations is sponsoring this week's challenge and you have a chance to win Surfing Oliver and Swimming Lucy. For all the details, please visit the CPS blog.. HERE.

I used Traveling Josh on my card. This image reminds me of Dan because he likes to read a lot. And, when he reads it's as if he has headphones on because he doesn't seem to hear anything that I say! He has recently taking a liking to reading books on my iPhone, so between him and Sabrina, I rarely get to use my phone.. lol! I ended up swapping out the sentiment panel and this was the card that Sabrina gave him for Father's Day.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Supplies ~
Stamps: Traveling Josh (Sparkle Creations), Sentiment from Road Trip (Papertrey Ink)
Paper: Road Trip, Ocean Tides (Papertrey Ink), Classic Crest Classic Natural White (Neenah)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Accessories: Circle punch (EK Success), Markers (Copic), Dew Drops (Robin's Nest), Ribbon, Foam tape, Thread, Sewing machine.

Taylored Expressions June Blast from the Past Blog Hop!

Hello! I'm excited to be participating in the June Taylored Expressions Blast from the Past Blog Hop! Each month, Taylor invites her customers to participate in this fun hop and feature Taylored Expressions Stamps! The theme for our hop is Old Glory.

If you happened here by chance, please check the full list of participants at the bottom of this post!

I decided to create another pinwheel patterned background, so I kept my card fairly simple other than the pinwheel design. I punched 1 1/4" squares from October Afternoon's Report Card (blue), Seaside (stripe) and Thrift Shop (text), cut them into triangles, arranged them onto cardstock and stitched them all together. I used one of the 4th of July A La Carte stamps for my sentiment (I tried to link it, but it wasn't in the store, so here's a link to all A La Carte stamps). I also used the Stars Impression plate for a little subtle texture at the bottom. Aren't those little button jars just the cutest? I had gotten that at Michael's in the dollar bin last year and thought they made good props.. :)

Here's a detail shot of the pinwheels and embossing:

Thanks so much for hopping by!

I really tried to stay close to the sketch, though I did end up omitting a panel. I used Suitcase Ruby on my card this week. After coloring her with Copic markers, I popped her onto my card with foam tape.

Mojo196 -- Wishing You Were Here

Hello! It's time for a new Mojo Monday sketch (#196).. I hope you will join us this week!

This week's sketch is so versatile.. it can be used to make a Clean & Simple card or you can dress it up! Instead of the oval, I stamped the Sweet Scallop Tag onto a sheet of patterned paper and die cut it using the matching Sweet Scallop Die. The hanging flower and sentiment, Wishing You Were Here, are from Always on My Mind.

Here's a look at the fabulous sketch:

CR84FN32 -- Happy Birthday, Mona!

Hello! It's time for another CR84FN Challenge! Thank you to all who joined us last time.. it was fun viewing all of your fabulous creations! For this week's challenge (CR84FN32), our color palette is Aqua, Green and Yellow. The lovely photos in the graphic above are courtesy of Leslie at A Creative Mint.

Today we are celebrating our fearless leader and my sweet friend, Mona Pendleton's birthday (Happy early birthday, Mona!) and this is the card I made for her:

When I saw the colors included yellow, I first thought to create a card with yellow tulips (Mona loves tulips), but then when I was choosing my patterned papers, I ran across this sweet little bicycle paper (Lily Bee Happily Lost) that was perfect for this week's color challenge. Mona stays very active and often goes on bike rides with her sister, Tina, so I decided to use the paper instead (for some reason, I didn't think that tulips and bicycles should be together on a card..:)).. So, my card turned out less girly than I had originally planned, but I hope Mona still likes it...

...Anyway, I digress... I pulled out some of my Papertrey goodies and made my label using a text stamp from Mat Stack 4 Collection and die cut with the coordinating Mat Stack 4 Die. "Someone like you should be celebrated every day" is from 2011 Birthday Tags and "Happy Birthday" is from Inside & Out: Birthday. The rest is pretty much self-explanatory.. I also included a tatted butterfly made by my cousin, Jessica of Snapdragon Lace. It was originally white, and I dyed it with some Sea Glass Glimmer Mist, which is what I used to dye my seam binding as well. I used last week's Card Patterns sketch #119 for my layout.

For all the challenge details, please be sure to visit the CR84FN blog HERE. I hope you will join us this week.. I can't wait to see what you create! For more inspiration, please visit my fellow design teammates:

My Girl and Quite Contrary

Hello! I hope you're all having a great week! It's supposed to be 108 here today.. ugh.. I think it's time to get in the pool and cool off! It's been awhile since I've been able to craft for fun and I've really wanted to do more scrapbooking, so that's what I did the last few days (I am a slow scrapbooker.. lol!).

{click on photo to enlarge}

I pulled out one of my favorite photos of Sabrina from earlier this year, cropped it and converted it to black and white. I paired it with some My Mind's Eye Quite Contrary Mary Mary. I've loved this line since it came out a year (or two ago?), but I kept hoarding it. I finally decided to stop hoarding and use them as these are some of my favorite colors. For sketch inspiration, I used the latest My Mind's Eye Blog Challenge #24. Along with the sketch (below), we were to use song lyrics as our theme. I chose My Wish, by Rascal Flatts.

Detail shot of the journaling, which are the lyrics to My Wish:

I used Verve's Dream Big, stamped the words and die cut with a Spellbinders Standard Circle die and matted it onto a scalloped circle die cut. I used a ticket from the Mary Mary Sweetie Pie collection and stamped the date using Papertrey Ink's Calendar Basics.

Here's a detail shot of one of the tatted butterflies. They were made by my cousin, Jessica, who owns and operates Snapdragon Lace. She is very talented and her tatting is just amazing! She is just starting to carry small tatted flowers, butterflies, motifs, etc. for scrapbookers and card makers. You can see some of her designs HERE. I added the trio of rhinestones to the butterflies then added them to my page with some foam tape.

Here's a look at the sketch:

Remember me saying how much I loved this MME Quite Contrary line?! Well, imagine my excitement when the patterns were released in fabric! I managed to get my hands on some of the prints earlier this year. Right around the same time, my SIL, Mary, had made her daughter (my niece) a couple of really cute fabric bags. When I told her about the fabric that I had just bought, she told me to send it out to her and she made these 2 great bags for Sabrina and me! Isn't she the best?!

Here's a look at Sabrina's bag:

and mine:

Finally, here's a shot of the 2 of us with our new bags:

TE June Key Ingredients Promotion

Hello! I'm here to show you more of the Taylored Expressions June Key Ingredients. You might remember the virtual birthday party that we had for Taylor a few days ago here. I showed you a card that I had made for my SIL, Mary. Now that we are back from our vacation to Colorado, I had some crafty time and today I have Taylor's card to show you.. in case she sees it here, it will be a spoiler as I just finished it.. lol!

I used Make a Wish to stamp my balloons on the patterned paper and clear embossed them. Next I die cut them with the Make a Wish Balloon Dies. The little label and "Happy Birthday" was stamped using It's in the Bag. I made my shopping bag and die cut the label using the Shopping Bag & Labels Die Set. Most all of my supplies are from the June Key Ingredients. The wooden button is from the March Key Ingredients and the Divine Twine is from my stash.

Here's a detail shot of the balloons so you can see some of the embossing:

SCRS Challenge #47 -- Wishing You Sunshine

It's time for an all new Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps Challenge! Each week we will post an all new challenge at this time (9 PM PST on Mondays). For all the details, please visit the SCRS blog. This week's challenge is to make an easel card. Beate has a great easel card tutorial on Splitcoast HERE.

It's been awhile since I've made an easel card.. I forgot how fun (and easy) they are! I used Rainy Day Ruby on my card today. I'm sending this off to a friend's mom and I am hoping that this brings a smile to her face. I paired Ruby with some paper from Cosmo Cricket's Odds & Ends. It's hard to tell in the photo, but the patterned paper on the bottom is full of uplifting phrases like "surrender your heart" and "embrace the moment". I also added a handmade flower (tatted by my SIL, Mary) and a little button which also helps the card to stand up in addition to being a decorative embellishment.

Mojo 195 -- Thanks So Much

Hello! It's time for a new Mojo Monday sketch (#195).. I hope you will join us this week!

I used Thankful Accents on my card today. I stamped and clear embossed the doodled frame, then I cut it out with a Spellbinder's Standard Circle die. While it was still in the die, I sponged over the frame to create an emboss resist effect. I made this card for Julee, who suprised me with some stamping goodies for my birthday.. thanks SO much Julee!

Here's a detail shot of the embossing:

Birthday Party Across the Miles

Hello! I'm so excited to be a part of a Fantasy Birthday Tour for our sweet friend, Taylor VanBruggen! Since we couldn't all be together today to throw a party, we're having a virtual Birthday Party Across the Miles and everyone is invited to come along!

You should have come here from Tori Wild's blog, but if you didn't, you might want to start this Fantasy Birthday Tour at the beginning on Jami Sibley's blog. Next up is Sankari Wegman! If you get lost along the way, please check Jami's blog for the complete list.. and be sure to visit Taylor and wish her a happy birthday.. I know she would be thrilled if you stopped by!

And what's a fantasy party without fantasy gifts?! If money were no object, this would be my gift to you, Taylor..

When Taylor first started Taylored Expressions, I fell in love with her Cuppie images and the rest is pretty much history! I know she loves the color pink and cupcakes and who wouldn't love a gift from Tiffany & Co., right?! I found this sweet little cupcake charm and immediately thought of Taylor.. So, here's my virtual gift to you, Taylor.. I am so blessed to know you, be a part of your team and to call you my friend.. I hope you have the BEST day EVER!

I didn't get a chance to make and send Taylor a card yet since I have been on vacation this past week, but I will be making a special card for her as soon as I get back home.. in the meantime, I thought that I would show you a card which uses the newest Taylored Expressions June Key Ingredients Kit. It just so happened to be a birthday card, too .. (this one was actually sent to my SIL, Mary, who celebrated her birthday on June 2).

Thanks SO much for stopping by! Remember, your next stop is Sankari Wegman!
